Rachel Riley from Countdown who when Corbyn was Labour leader had a lot of twitter 'disagreements' with people she felt were apologists for anti-semitism. 

 

She's been in court more than she has been on TV last few years. The person mentioned was part of a group she challenged to withdraw their statements. I don't think the person mentioned did that. I don't follow the detail though I'm familiar with some of the cases.

Leaving the one operational sub aside for a moment, nuking them means they nuke back, and that would be bad.  Sorry, that's me assuming that the armchair generals don't want us to be nuked, but you get what I mean.

 

So, if nuking Russia isn't a valid option, and if what the UK, the US and the EU have done so far by way of sanctions is weak and ineffective, where's the middle ground?

Which is a great step further than some of the EU countries are doing.  Money is the barrier to most going in strong on sanctions.

Re Nukes. If we, the West, don’t stop Putin now where do we stop him and how? Sanctions are something I think he is prepared to live with especially as China and India are dealing with him so to a greater extent sanctions useless.

From watching the media I wonder where the Ukraine military are especially there airforce. So many sitting duck targets of Russian military on the move. Seemingly Unguarded airports being taken over by Russian paratroopers. 
My armchair answers are that NATO need to go Russian on the Russians. Unmarked aircraft and other attack ordinance to take out forward Russian columns which the media take photos of and publish with ease. The Russian population won’t take kindly to large losses of men being sent home in body bags or urns. 
Russia have a huge military capability but to deploy them en mass leaves them easy targets as you can’t hide big numbers of troop movements. 
If Putin uses Nukes then there was no point in his aggression as the devastation would most likely leave large swathes of his country uninhabitable for decades due to the retaliatory strikes. 
Ultimately it’s up to the West to do something to stop him.

In normal circumstances NATO and Russia work together to avoid any conflict or misunderstandings. 

 

NATO confirmed that at their press conference yesterday. The example given was US soldiers in Ukraine left country at start of week. 

 

But Russia's recklessness added to the strong reaction to the invasion creates a dangerous situation. 

 

Interesting on US Government briefing it was being hinted (i.e. denied) special forces may be supporting Ukraine.
