SPFL and Covid ( Leagues 1 and 2 to restart )

See if this gets voted down, I am looking forward to the reaction from Celtic and Hibs. I also hope that regardless of the result of the vote, everyone associated with HMFC wise up and start treating the arsehole clubs in this league with the same contempt that they display for us.

So in a breakaway league we could have...

Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dundee's biggest clubs.

Fife's most successful club.

Aberdeen

Falkirk, who can bring a better support than half the top flight.

Dumbarton, joint winners of the first championship.

Doesn't sound too bad to me.  😁

Better than what is left behind.

OK so, they don't have enough votes

Falkirk, Dumbarton, East Fife, Montrose, Stranraer and Edinburgh City are against.

Has that been confirmed or are you reading the Record?

Dagger Is Back

To tie the vote in with the blatant waving of a cheque in the faces of clubs who are already down on their knees, sums up everything we already knew about the game in this country.

This is the size of the pot available

1st Position £3.35 million 13.40%
2nd Position £2.4 million 9.60%
3rd Position £2.06 million 8.25%
4th Position £1.81 million 7.25%
5th Position £1.68 million 6.75%
6th Position £1.56 million 6.25%
7th Position £1.43 million  5.75%
8th Position £1.37 million 5.50%
9th Position £1.31 million 5.25%
10th Position £1.25 million 5.00%
11th Position £1.18 million 4.75%
12th Position £1.12 million 4.50%

That's £20.5M. Even if the sponsors etc take back 20% of that, in terms of 20% of the season still to go, that leaves £16.4M. They could easily pay £900K as a minimum to every single club right now and still have spare to sort it out finally, without resorting to bully boy tactics

I posted this on the wrong thread

I've seen posts from that twitter account previously and generally it does seem to be in the know.

Let's assume for a moment that the timeline in the twitter thread is accurate.

How does Neil Doncaster explain why the SPFL Board put out a statement that only referenced the email contact with Rod McKenzie and omitted to mention the contact made with himself (the SPFL's Chief Exec) and others in the SPFL management group.

If the Rangers account of the timeline is correct, then it does demonstrate a level of misinformation and coercion in order to achieve the Board's aim.

As ever when governing bodies attempt a cover up, the consequences of that can be just as serious.

Have they explained the rationale behind this decision? It seems very odd and a little contrived given league one seems to be where most are against the proposal.

Wouldn’t surprise me if they came up with the 3 tiered voting structure after they had canvassed opinion and knew league 1 was the biggest problem.

Just a small point, but we will not be relegated, we will be expelled from the Scottish Premiership and be placed in the Scottish Championship, all due to a vote from other clubs in the league.

Relegation occurs when you either finish bottom of the league after 38 games, or lose in the pay offs.

Never forgive or forget.

Exactly.  If this does pan out the way that the authorities want it to I won’t be putting a penny into the coffers of any club that voted us down.

According to londonhearts - I wasn't at the game as I was a week or two away from conception - the scoring went:

Danny Paton 25 ;Johnny Hamilton 35 ;Norrie Davidson 67
[Jim Scott 54] ;[John Fraser 56] ;[Jim Scott 60]

Thanks for that - good to know my memory still serves me well! I did recall Norrie Davidson scoring the Equaliser.....

I hope this ends Budge’s cosy wee chats with Dempster and talk of working together to both Clubs mutual benefit!!

If this goes through, it is an utter scandal. I can't believe this might happen. Budge should be coming out like Rangers and not weak pish about accepting it. I don't think I can continue to support Scottish football if this goes through, we have a league blatantly bribing clubs to try and force through their suggestion. It is an absolute disgrace and we need to start calling it out!

Perfectly sums up the situation really though.

Its explusion (the proposal now) or denial (Dundees attempt to force United to stay down)

Neither are about fairness.

Get the league reconstructed

I'm not sure we should be at the acceptance stage yet, there's plenty more battles that could be fought and won here.

This is absolute pish from the sfa, its interesting this vote has to happen BEFORE the uefa decision so they can blackmail clubs who are vulnerable and uncertainty can easily sway a decision one way or another, even if this doesn't pass I'm annoyed at the way its been conducted.

Its the best way forward for all parties.

Hearts do not deserve to be demoted as the season hasn't concluded. Dundee Utd do not deserve to be denied promotion they were almost certainly going to achieve.

No demotion and have a play off for the 14th place between the remaining Championship teams once things cool down.

When the rest have no balls, not even one set, a brass neck will win.

Remember no sporting advantage? Remember the vote two and a half years ago to not look into the corruption, which all voted for, including us?

I'm actually staggered that the SPFL has had the gall to say to clubs we'll pay you money if you vote in a certain way - and then announces a continued delay of no games/income until mid-June the night before the vote. Talk about bullying!

This is the same SPFL that agreed to give holyrood the details on the number of times sectarian singing was mentioned in delegate reports only on the condition that it remain confidential.

To make matters worse Holyrood agreed

Scottish football makes eurovision look non political.

Hibs and Dundee both intent on screwing their neighbours

Don't see how Dundee are screwing their neighbours.  They still had a chance of promotion through the playoffs.
