In my work problems like this are solvable.

It helps too its world wide. There will be a solution found re contracts.

Better that than face football shut down by legal action from clubs losing out on titles, promotion etc..

There is no ‘solution’ re contracts. As said before, they are legal agreements that can’t be amended willy-nilly by one of the parties.

Going to be absolutely shite with no sport to watch over the coming weeks.

Oh well, can just watch people rush around in sheer panic instead.

If Euro 2020 is postponed til Summer 2021, obvious solution is that games will restart in April/May and finish in June/July. Or am I missing something(s) obvious. Probably....

I'd be shocked if this weekend fixtures go ahead as planned.

With the amount of people travelling from NI and the Republic, also from other parts of the UK it would be completely irresponsible.

Big decision.

We surely will follow suit.

You would hope so, but it wouldn't surprise me if the interests of the old firm is seen as more important than the lives of the vulnerable. Only in Scotland!

Player has to agree it.

It's a Europe wide issue at least.  Players associations can get involved. Contracts have to get extended in other walks of life.

Just see much more problems with cancelling leagues (sorry Liverpool) or finishing them.

There is flexibility to catch up, even if it takes a couple of years.

Its frustrating our fa can never make own decision or act first.   We constantly look down south and follow suit.

Hopefully common sense prevails and all games off for time being

Indeed.

Always reactive rather than proactive.

They could complete this season at what would’ve been the start of next season and cancel the league cup, extend next season, if the euros go ahead.

Yes and ditch the January break if need be.

Now reports in England from 'private parties' that it will be almost impossible to resume Premier League and EFL in early April and that postponing Euro 2020 will allow leagues to be completed. I'm thinking summer football is here....

To be honest I think voiding their season is the solution that will cause the fewest issues. Clubs usually participate in sports competitions in the knowledge that the governing body makes the rules and can amend those rules at any time it sees fit. When the SFA or SPFL makes a decision it would be very unusual for a member club to challenge that decision in court.

June 1 is generally the defacto end of the season, its the date when player contracts come to an end and a side could effectively lose its entire side overnight.

Realistically if we are suspending games now, we are not even looking at a resumption until mid-summer at the earliest, even starting on time for next season may be a challenge.

Short of modern-day slavery, how do you propose extending these contracts?

For example Hamilton player on £750 per week told that he must continue working for that wage, despite his contract having expired and having an alternative offer of employment for £7500 per week.

Scottish football has been officially suspend until further notice.

With English football only suspended until the 3rd of April, do you think this will end the season now?

Not many players in Scottish football are set for life millionaires. Whilst not necessarily life and death, it could conceivably be plenty of players mortgages and homes on the line.
