Not really the point I was making, but bash on with your own extreme views. It's pretty clear where your political agenda lies....

Blaming 130k deaths on the decisions of a government to a unforseen global pandemic which has killed millions around the world is stretching it a little.  If only he'd got it right the UK would have been untouched?

No doubt you made some decisions during the last 18 months  which resulted in the virus spreading and ultimately killed others. Let him who is without sin cast the first stone and all that....

Given there are 17 countries with worse death rates than the UK, there must be a lot of world leaders who have "killed" hundreds of thousands. It's the most outlandish conspiracy theory of all time!

It’s not a coincidence that those most critical of the English Govt are fervent SNP supporters . Talk about not “ seeing the wood from the trees”

Yes per capita we have nearly done as bad as our neighbours . But I tend to it get into body counts . It’s distasteful really .

Where is the evidence that people "won't be able to work"?

Any variant,  with or without vaccine, the vast majority of people will have no or mild symptoms.  Those with other health issues or who are particularly vulnerable were more at risk from complications.

The vaccine offers 94% protection against serious illness or death from any variant therefore the only people who could possibly be "locked down" at Christmas would be those for whom the vaccine doesn't work.

Even that is unlikely though as the virus will have been floored by our wall of immunity long before then.

Yes if there is any resurface the policy needs to be lock down of the vulnerable instead of the ludicrous lockdown of the healthy too . First time in any pandemic this has happened !

Anyway ! Let’s all be positive and let’s hope that all goes well down England . We can peak from behind the safety of our curtains like Miss Sturgeon will do and hope for the best !

The ones who keep calling it a mild illness can’t know too many people who’ve had a dose. If mild then count yourself lucky. I know 3 people who’ve told me it’s the worst they’ve ever felt in their lives. All fit lads too.
I hope all goes well in England but it is making me a bit edgy tbh. These cases go rocketing and turn into hospitalisations then we’ll have no option other than full lockdown again. That’ll be a fecking nightmare.
My second jab Wednesday though so hopefully I’ll avoid it until that kicks in.

That’s me vaccinated “fully” - since I had Covid in January they gave me one dose of Pfizer and put me down as having both.

Once you have had both jabs you might feel more relaxed . I’ve had both so there’s nowt more I can do to protect myself as such . The opening up is preferable to the status quo .

Only the recent statistics showing that 90% of all UK adults have antibodies, the fact that all adults should be double dosed by Sept and the fact that Govt scientists expect herd immunity to have been achieved in the Autumn.

I hope you're right but there's no actual evidence of the virus being floored by a wall of immunity.  Thought I would ask,  seeing as you were asking for evidence about something else.

My own opinion is that we probably need absolute maximum immunisation to ensure that.

I thought it was 6 weeks but the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) recommends a minimum of three weeks between the first and second Pfizer dose.

Yes, of course. I appreciate there is no definitive proof that will happen.  Hopefully though.

I think either U18s will have to be vaccinated, or infected, for full herd immunity to be achieved but surely we will have a decent sized wall by the onset of winter.

Yeah it is. I’m not terrified or anything it has to come if we want some form of normality back I just get uneasy about all this “it’s just a mild illness”. That’s not what a few people I know have said, it’s anything but mild according to them. It’s more the arsehole it brings out in some people when that gets bandied about.
Id hate to have to spend 10 days shut in the house too. Drive me fecking mad lol.

How did they better prepare for this forseen event and how did that aid their response?

In a word, SARS.

Most of South East Asia were affected in 2002-2004 and knew it was only a matter of time before it either returned or another infection came along and had made plans & preperations for it, meanwhile in the West, we did next to nothing, mainly due to the West having had very few cases of SARS.

The Mrs sister has it just now. She's had worse hangovers. Her cousin has it too and she thought it was hayfever. It seems to hit blokes worse.

To my knowledge I have never had it.  Had a couple of periods of feeling under the weather recently but that’s it.

However I can currently not eat certain types of fruit as they taste absolutely rotten.  Fruit I have eaten all my life now tastes of metallic chemicals and I can’t stomach it at all despite my wife assuring me they taste normal.  How random.  Makes me wonder if I had it and never knew and this is some weird after affect.  No way to find out so guess I will never know!

That's the manufacturers recommendation.

Whether the health board will allow you to be dosed before week 8 is another matter.

Signal coming in loud and clear. One-way data only though for some reason, we don't seem to be exercising adequate control over your behaviour as we would have wished, going by your recent posts. Don't worry, however, we'll sort that out with the second chip. :thumb:

As expected the BBC has went into hysterical overdrive about “ freedom day “ even worse there was a news report about Katie Hopkins and her getting booted out of Oz . Apparently she was in quarantine and when food was delivered to her door she was to stand back wait 30 seconds then wear a mask and answer the door . However she joked that she would answer the door naked without a mask . The reporter reporting this stated she “ put the worker life at risk” if she did this !!’ This is the level of hysteria we have got too and the calibre of “ reporters “ I should add I can’t abide Katie Hopkins

It is too late for common sense and proper science.  Masks are here to stay for much of the population.

If this is an injustice, a stroke of luck that it’s happened to her

Are there rules on this? All I've seen is the publicity re drop-in centres, but nothing on prohibitions. Is there a contact site/number?

I'm in England so not sure if it's different but I can confirm I had my second dose (booked, not via drop in or hanging around a centre like a loon) less than 8 weeks apart.

News from freedom day in London.  Almost everyone still wearing masks in the supermarket but no-one including me challenged for not doing so. Still many (half) fully masked walking down the street. And still some alone in their cars or with their spouse and/or kids. The only  significant change for me is that I could order a drink, receive it and pay for it at the bar rather than sit around waiting for someone to offer to "table serve".  Two pubs in the high street closed because of the NHS App pinging staff.

Nice to hear FA.

I’ll be ditching my mask up here as soon as it’s not mandatory too. Absolute token gestures at best. So sick of all this nonsense now.

If you turn up before the 8 weeks is up they will turn you away.  It has to be after the 8 weeks.

Not correct- Mrs F 31 March and 18 May = less than 8 weeks, both appointments given to her by NHS Scotland

I've just turned up seven and a half weeks since the first jag and been second dosed no problem.

Sounds like people are exercising their own judgement in a reasonably sound and sensible way. I get the feeling some folk quietly enjoy the mask wearing in a Niles-Crane-handkerchief-over-the-coffee-shop-chair kind of germaphobe way. No problem with that as long as they don't expect everyone to be as neurotic as they are.

NHS app 'pingdemic' is an interesting one. We were refused entry to a restaurant in Chester on Saturday because we didn't have it (wife has never bothered downloading it, the other couple we were with don't have it despite being very pro-mask and pro-lockdown restrictions, and I don't even have a smartphone). I'm cool with businesses adopting their own rules over this, but I worry about the technology and its inherently binary view of the world. Things could get interesting with access to places being based on your ability to provide 'evidence' from your mobile phone in the coming months.

I deleted that app month ago .
