!  On “ the. Chase “ just now a lassie is asked “ which biblical character did Charlton Heston play in  a classic 1956  film ?

answer from her “Lawrence of Arabia “ 😂😂😂

Tell me it wasn't the multiple choice chase element.

Enzo it was his aggressive  approach which riled me . No need for it . ThAt lanyard sounds a great idea as it’ll work two fold , they won’t ask you if exempt and they will get peed off thinking I’m a Boris fan ! 😂😂

I’m not sure I want to get involved in all that much discussion on this thread now, I’m a bit like you a few weeks ago just looking forward to freedom👍. I’ll be London in a bit for a bit, so a city I normally detest has become incredibly appealing.😀

I guess the issue is stats are stats, they don’t represent real world issue in many ways (I have had a impromptu BBQ today and a few beers and the likes so excuse me for lack of succinctness and my inability to express my thoughts 😔) they are just a indication of trends.

Not every 30 something is healthy, especially in this country, quite the opposite in fact. It’s not as clean cut as that, there are a lots of intersecting factors such as weight, physical activity, medical conditions etc.

A fit 65 year old v a fat **** of a 30 year old is a very different risk profile,🤷🏻‍♂️

My personal belief, if to move forward we need to accept it gets worse before it gets better. The plan was to vaccinate and (it sounds heartless) we are at diminishing return point now. Unfortunately, that the only way we can move forward is to accept their will be collateral damage. Some people find that easier to accept than others.

So I guess I agree with you 🙈

As an aside why do you detest London?

I love it too, great for a couple of nights getaway. Also agree that I wouldn't want to live there though I don't think. I'm lucky it's just an hour or so on the train so day trips are possible too 👍

It was a genuine question because I can't think of any city I really detest.

I saw this and thought it was interesting.  More evidence that excess deaths need to be true measure for death comparisons.  This level of disparity makes a mockery of direct Covid deaths comparisons.

Also makes a nonsense of comparisons of absolute case numbers though trends probably mean something

By your own standards, probably, aye, but it was only a 5/10. 6 at a push.

Play to your strengths, FA.

You just stick to playing the curmudgeonly belligerent, and leave the comedy to James and i8.

Didn’t know it was wrong to complain about rising waiting lists and cancer screenings ? Covid isn’t the only game in town

FF makes a fair point   -  I think the point is not that people are not entitled to complain  - its just that its  a little self defeating/disingenious for people who ignore the restrictions to complain in the scenario where Hospitalisations are increasing possibly through such actions.  If delved into  little further its also clear that 'Long Covid' is in fact developing even more as another major concern and unfortunately it now seems to be hitting younger age groups fairly badly in appreciable numbers.  All of this is I am afraid to say going to hit the NHS capabilty to recover the position to pre covid levels  - people need to be kind and considerate to each other even more now that we are reaching more of an endgame on this Pandemic and that means adhering to Public Health requirements.  You are absolutely right that Covid isn't the only game in town - the problem is its  new game which is using up an incredible amount of the playing areas which older games used to use.

It’s mad they are cancelled when it’s outside and you look last week at a full  Wimbledon and the crowds at Wembley 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

I actually had tickets to party in the park. The email blamed the lack of a UK government backed insurance policy and then seemed to point the finger at the SG. Doesn’t really seem to be down to covid in the traditional sense and more a technicality. Absolutely gutted tbh 😢

That’s two music festivals cancelled in Scotland. Party at the Palace and Party in the Park.
The events and entertainment industry in Scotland is on its knees.

After the Summer Sessions in Princess St were moved to 2022 as well. No doubt the 80s festival in Dalkeith on the 28th August will be next to be postponed.

Had so much hope that these gigs would be a nice incentive waiting at the end of the vaccinations and lockdown exit. Instead they all get binned and we get to draw lots to see if we can sit and watch a match.

I don’t think you would need to be an expert to have predicted this weeks back. Suppose the question is, how bad will it get because asking the public to be cautious won’t work…for obvious reasons !

There was a wee lassie on the news last night with covid toes. She seemed to be in a bit of discomfort and it was a bloody shame.

She'd never been diagnosed with covid, and never had any covid symptoms until her toes became swollen and sore.

Now I'm not saying that what she has isn't covid related, but most of us will at some time have suffered from an ailment which doctors couldn't put their finger on.

I would hazard that from now on, many of those ailments will in some way be attributed to covid.
