70k is a decent wage but it's not an outrageous wage. If you want talented folk to take on the job of MP you have to give them the going rate. There must be plenty of MPs well worth their salary.

Most of the money William and Kate get is given by Prince Charles from his Duchy of Cornwall estate. They also receive some from the Sovereign Grant. The Sovereign Grant costs the taxpayer nothing, it is set at 25% of the profits that the Queen hands over from the Crown Estate.

 

The Royals cost us a fortune - there's your myth.

Taxpayers pay for their security, taxpayers pay for their weddings and funerals and houses, local councils pay for their visits.

The same could have been said about Nicola sturgeon travelling from Glasgow to the western general this morning. Coming from a tier 4 area then straight into a hospital for a few photos

She comes to Edinburgh every day, I said earlier on I think she should at least stay at Bute House during the week. She is a key worker though, those two are not.
