Do you mind if I ask what country you live in? And just to be clear, I'm asking if you live in Scotland or England.

I live in Scotland. I am Scottish. I am not Jewish.

You're reduced to that level already?

Surely tonight is a bad result for you then?

Not you, Jake old boy. I disagree with a fair bit of what you say but you're a good lad. You don't go out of your way to slag other users and wind them up. It actually feels quite cathartic putting that user on ignore, except for the folk that are quoting him!

Heartbroken.

I had my money on the Tories winning 100 seats.

I have literally no idea what you're on about, or why you're talking about being Jewish! I simply asked where you lived because given your political preference, if you live in Scotland, you're f#####d! If you want to be ruled by Boris, best move to England because we'll be out of this clusterfeck very soon.

I'm always heartened by the denizens of Kickback consistently trying their damndest to be reasonable and accommodating to those few here who absolutely do not deserve such sympathies. You all have far, far more patience than I do and you know, it's probably rooted in your Scottishness to boot. It puts my loudmouthed American buffoonery to shame, tbh.

We live in a democracy.  People don’t always get what they want.  If you dish out insults and banter then don’t start bubbling when you get it right back.
Trapper is obviously a happy chap so of course he’s gonna rub it in.

And I voted Labour.

You were all willing to throw Scottish and British Jews to the wolves in order to make a deal with the disgusting Corbyn regime.

Shame on you if this poll is correct. Shame on Scotland.

God bless the English working class They were the real winners tonight. Greatest people on this earth. Morally superior to you all and put you to shame. Shame. Shame.

Your Independence dream is now truly dead in a ditch.

All depends on the share of the vote.  The SNP will always do better in a FPTP voting system as all no voters split their votes amongst the other parties whereas people who want independence tend to vote snp.

Absolutely. Some people really do chuck their toys out the pram when things don’t go exactly their way.

Sorry, might be the fact I've worked my b#llocks off today, played with the kids and then had a few beers to relax but I'm lost with your post. Both a GE and referendum vote are simple votes in that whoever gets the most votes wins the prize so are both FPTP.

You could get less votes but more seats and win.

Tories will not need Scottish support so will in all probability refuse any Ref 2 in this parliament and that means a problem for the SNP in their approach over the next few years.

Pretty sure the independence ref wasn't constituency based like a General Election.  In the last general election the pro union parties vote combined was bigger than snp vote but snp won loads more seats (35) because of the fact the independence vote not split

Speaking as someone who has until today voted straight Labour in every election since 1974. What a disaster Corbyn has been. And McDonnell.

You're in no way a loudmouth nor a buffoon! You are by definition an arsehole though as like me you're a kickback member!

Bah, appreciated, but I think oh, say @jake might have a thing or two to say about that.

I just wish people like you who contribute to society were allowed to vote in general elections. I think it's a disgrace that you can't. My wife is Dutch, has lived here since 1998, jointly owns a house with me, pays taxes, has two Scottish/Dutch kids, takes an interest in the community but can't vote in the country she lives in. That's another thing which will change after independence.

I appreciate this very much too. I figure, I can still talk to people, and be informed, and contribute in that way, so it's not a total loss. I am looking forward to these changes you envision.

This has riled me for a long time. The Americans were right when they said "Taxation without representation is tyranny”, although a broader and not so financial viewpoint of folk's contributions to society should probably be considered.

How could the SNP get less votes but more seats?

They could win 58 constituencies with a majority of one over another party and the other party could win the 59th seat with a majority of 10,000.

I wasn't actually meaning the SNP though, just than an FPTP general election win doesn't necessarily mean you got the most votes.

Is that a serious question? Even if the forecast of 55 SNP seats is correct it is likely that unionist parties will have a majority of votes cast.

Ian Murray in trouble maybe ! Yes please

So you are pleased to get rid of one of our own who was a major part of saving our club..disgrace

It's a pity he was not the Labour leader as they would have won this election with any kind of sensible candidate who recognised some things are best left in the past and pledges have to be realistic

The Labour party members will waffle on about Brexit etc etc pretending it was not the policies or leader that lost them this election when the normal voter knows Corbyn was a dead duck supported by idiots like Abbot and her cronies with union support

Blair was the best leader they had in decades and the best PM the UK had also but when the chance came to dump him they took it and the party swung left backed by the unions who are in the main led by McCluskey  the leader of Unite who remember threatened to set up a new workers union and leave the Labour Party..wish he had for he'd be gone now as well..another dodo paying lip service to workers rights to get the country back to the 60's and 70's with most things under public ownership

It really is simple..if you don't vote in union elections you'll be stuck with him and his cronies and if you do vote and support him and his like you should be ashamed

You'd think Corbyn and co would resign after tonight and leave the stage admitting they were wrong....I think we may have to wait longer than the Hearts manager search for that one

I suppose so. But I remember him being on TV almost daily in the 2014 Ref. and he was interesting to listen to imo

Admittedly, I've no idea what he's been saying this time around.

Mate, what he meant is that in any vote the SNP have to get over 50% in order for Sturgeon to claim UDI under Article 30. She might have between 40-50 seats but as a one issue party very easy to do in a FPTP system when the Unionist parties split 3 ways. SNP support currently down to 40% so still at 2014 levels.
