It's a perfect Submarine base due to it's proximity to the Atlantic deep sea lanes.

It really is and people who expect that in an independent Scotland these subs will just be told go and get yourself to England are in for a shock.

the SNP know this they have been told the subs will be going nowhere.  But to be fair that gives them a huge amount of bargaining power over other things that can work in their favour.  They are playing it smart on this one.

Define poverty in the UK.

There are lots of definitions of poverty and ways of measuring it. Absolute and relative for starters. Nevertheless it is clear that no matter what measure you use things are almost always worse and continue to deteriorate when we have a Conservative government. Don't take my word for it see IFS they're no friends of Socialism.

Indeed, the subs are going nowhere anytime soon, the SNP know that as does Westminster as well, besides there is only a handful of other places they could go, and even fewer which could match Gare Loch's wonderful position.

Don’t the SNP want to get rid of Trident but remain in NATO and shelter under the US nuclear deterrent?

In an independent Scotland we don't need to vote SNP.  Vote Greens and they will tell Westminster to get those nukes the **** out of Scotland pronto...

Maybe so, but Trident wouldn't belong to an Independant Scotland, Trident would belong to what is left of the UK, and the UK would just lease the Faslane base from Scotland.

Classic fudge.

The SNP can claim that Scotland doesn't have any nuclear weapons, which it wouldn't have but Faslane is leased by the UK and to protect the thousands of jobs which depend upon HMNB Clyde the SNP have agreed, of course keeping the nukes at Faslane also helps NATO which Scotland would aspire to be part off.

The subs ain't going nowhere.

Indeed. Just look at the location of US bases around the world. Not too dissimilar to what may happen here.

That very point is argued constantly within the SNP.

Most grass roots members don't want anything to do with NATO.

But at the current rate of things driven by President Dingus, NATO won't even exist for very much longer

May not agree with him on political fundamentals, but his journalistic ethics appear to be beyond reproach.

We would be declared a rogue state.

Probably will one day for our water unless we do as we are told.

As the planet gets hotter it's a certainty that wars will be fought over drinking water, thankfully Scotland would have a deterent to deter anybody from doing so, and I don't mean Trident.

Aussie and a few of his mates with painted braveheart style faces, and mooning to the invaders, hell that's a sight which would surely strike fear into even the most determined of invaders.  🤣

Jo Swinson .

It's just not happening .

Reminds me of Clinton, 'Vote for me I'm a woman'. Pathetic strategy, can't wait for her to lose her seat whilst she's gallivanting around the country kidding on she's going to be prime minister. Utter Walter Mitty.

I thought you had a degree in politics and therefore knew everything about it especially compared to such plebs.

So you know full well how truly silly it is to refer to the minority government given the voting system in place for Scottish Parliament elections that was intended to guarantee there'd never be a majority . . . and yet the SNP managed one anyway in 2015.

And then doubled down on it. Mental.

Just for those that had a scoff at me. Sturgeon in interview with Andrew Neil has admitted several times that she leads a minority government. So I was right.

If some of the other leaders get the same treatment it's going to be carnage.

They'll all get the same treatment from him. It will just show, as if we didn't already know, how much of a state politics in this country is in. Love her or hate her sturgeon is one of the better politicians in the UK right now but she had no answer to the questions asked and the worrying thing is the questions were just basic ones that we should all be asking.

BBC admits an "error" in doctoring the QT footage to make it look as if Boris was being applauded instead of being laughed at when saying he could be trusted.

"The edit was made for time constraints", said a BBC gobshite.

Well,  that's the local councillor out the way. Andrew Neil moves on to serious politicians in the next episode.

Lee Anderson, standing as the Tory candidate in Ashford in Nottinghamshire, has been caught getting a friend to pretend to be a swing voter who is then convinced to vote Tory in front of a camera crew.

Silly arsehole forgot he had the microphone turned on when he phoned his mate to arrange it a few minutes before ringing his doorbell.

He goes too far with the tough interview technique stuff.    Sometimes you just want to hear the answers.    I watched to hear the politician,   not him.     He wasn't listening half the time and also perhaps misquoted from the documents he cited.

He is very good and is hard for them handle but it's sometimes ott.

They also removed his initial words which were incomplete as he started to speak. They first claimed it was to save time but the versions are the same length.

Both versions are available on Twitter.

I do agree but in this case I think it did sturgeon a favour as she was on the ropes and struggling.

Like Brexit its an ideaolgy with no clear pathway to achieve it successfully.

I dread to think what mess the country would be in and for how long in the event of a yes vote

Folk used to laugh at the likes of Gordon brown and John major.  Either of those would win this election without breaking sweat

Andrew Neil when on form takes no prisoners.

I thought Sturgeon came out of it not too badly.

The currency one must be nailed and could have easily been .

Bet you Sturgeon looks the best candidate after hes grilled the rest.

Personally cant wait for the Swinson mauling.
