I think that this is the East of Scotland Shield match in August 1980 and if it is his name was Jim Campbell.

Aye something like that. Was replaced at half time by someone equally illustrious.

I think Anderson played with the No. 5

He did indeed.

When injured, it was John Gallagher who took his jersey.

Simpler times eh?  ☹️

Neil Irvine, silver middle back row. Gary Sutherland, silver bottom row far left. The lad in middle bottom row silver played in the same Salvie team as Irvine and Sutherland but can’t remember his name.

Colin Scott, silver middle bottom row. The boy in silver beside Sandy, Peter Findlay?

Some knowledge, man. 👍

I really got them wrong.

I thought next to O'Connor was Malcolm Murray. And far bottom was Crabbo.

Please tell me im not wrong with Jimmy  Sandison.  :laugh2:

😜Tbf, I knew them from their Salvesen BC days - it’s no wonder Salvie swept the boards across all juvenile levels at that time. Gary (Suds) Sutherland can regularly been found in The Railway Inn at Juni.

Btw, you were spot on with Jimmy S👍

I found a copy of this picture in a drawer the other day. It has all the players autographs on the back. Some of them I am having trouble identifying though. If I can figure out how to get a decent picture of it taken I will maybe upload it and hopefully some of you chaps can help me match the autograph to the player.

Top left in silver looks like Paul Cherry. Left Hearts to play for Cowdenbeath, then St Johnstone for most of his career and then Inverness

No shirt sponsor so I would guess the derby in November 1988. Looks like Gordon Rae being sent off.

A miserable day. Lost 1-2 against 10 men. Hibs first, and only, win at Tynecastle in the eighties.

Still, it was one of only 3 derby defeats between 1983-94.  A wee 18 month blip between the 17 and 22 games without defeat.

Aye.

Never met Bill but I would like to get a horses mouth account of that day.

Allan Moore missed an absolute sitter right at the end (i.e. after McPherson had scored in injury time).

I was right behind the goal, BB, shuffling from the shed to the exit. Don't believe I've seen it since but I recall it being a sort of Billy Bremner/Brazil thing.

A truly miserable day.

Despise losing to those underlings.

Apologies MS, thought this was the other similar thread.

From the left: Sneddon, Jardine, Evans, Rae, Kane, Crombie, Tortolano (?) and Galloway.

Definitely similar (well probably not but that's my recollection too).

Might be Kevin Hegarty and the goalie isn't Jim McArthur but Mike McDonald (I think).

Goalie definitely isn’t McArthur.

The only Jim Stevenson I recall played for Hibs many years before this picture.  At first I thought John was meaning John Stevenson but the player in the picture is nothing like wee John.

I’m going with JTJ that the tall Hearts player may be Kevin Hegarty.

Is it Graham Shaw right centre?

Could well be. 👍

One thing is for sure, it’s not Donald Ford, as suggested earlier.

Looks like a bit like Derek Renton, did not think Kevin Hegarty was that tall or dark.

Maybe Harry Kinnear?

Aye, fair enough.

Mind my memory is not what it was but always thought he was hopeless as were so many in those days, on a closer look other does look like PH but he is 5ft 8 on London hearts.
