Loved DF, cracking player and by all accounts, class person.

Stand out memory for me is the winner at the school end (where we were) against Rangers late on in a cup replay. Went the  proverbial daft.

Tynie was absolutely heaving that night.

I think you are correct. Scotland had been pretty good up to qualifying. Maybe Ally McLeod didn’t want to change a winning team, although the team did show signs of decline just before the tournament.

We did have Joe Jordan and Kenny Dalglish up front. Not an easy duo to displace from the team.

I can only remember Dalglish playing great once in the World Cup finals.

The 3/2 win over Holland in the 78 World cup.

Yes, Donald had the ball and the ref motioned to throw it over - which he did. The ref took umbrage with the weight of the throw and booked him.  They were about 15 yards apart at the time. The SFA said it was a "misunderstanding" (I think) when they rescinded it.

Yep. That's the way I saw it.

He was not happy when he threw the ball back and the look on his face showed that. I got the impression at the time the ref took the speed he threw it at and the look on his face as the reason he booked him. It was heading for the refs face when he caught it. I can still see the look on Donald's face when he threw it, and when he was booked. I didn't know it was rescinded. That's good to know. Cheers.

I think it was against Clyde at Tynecastle; very foggy, and Donald finished the game in goals. I think.

Wasn't that game as I was at that.

I wasn't at the game when he was booked.

Remember hearing it on the radio.

The Donald Ford booking was I think vs Cowdenbeath in December 1970. We got a corner at the Gorgie Road end and the referee gave a goal kick, so Donald threw the ball to the referee, quite hard.

There was a photo in the Daily Express on the following Monday, showing Donald studying all these thick law books to prepare for his appeal.

When I was a boy, I used to cut out photos of Hearts goals from newspapers. I was raking about my loft today and came across some programmes that have these photos inside them.

I've tried to upload to see if any of my generation of fan can remember them, but they won't upload.

I'm a techno dinosaur but it can't be that complicated. I tried from both my iPhone and Galaxy tablet and both failed to upload onto jkb.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Aidrian Boothroyd.

Scored 2 v Huntly.

Think that was his Hearts career in a nutshell

Nah he's before my time but he's got legs tree trunks and I don't think he would've come off second best in a 50/50

Impressive knowledge if correct.

I remember him from that fantastic French team in the 1982 World Cup

Aye I recognise the name. I wouldn't recognise him in a picture though. I was only seven when the '82 World Cup was on so my memories of it are fairly limited.

I went to the second leg of that tie when we drew 2-2 with PSG at Tynecastle. They were a good side.

Got a bit of a pasting in Paris. 4-0 but could have been worse as that was the score with half a hour to play

I found a copy of this picture in a drawer the other day. It has all the players autographs on the back. Some of them I am having trouble identifying though. If I can figure out how to get a decent picture of it taken I will maybe upload it and hopefully some of you chaps can help me match the autograph to the player.
