I can remember seeing sheep in Holyrood Park. 1970s not 1870s, I'm not that old

I left Edinburgh early 1967, I don't think I ever knew the Park without sheep

So we can blame the City council of the day for the decision and Secretary of State Willie Ross for not overturning the decision, despite it being a listed building.  The building next to the Life Association was equally attractive.

Remember that tram rail removals, done in a shelter for benefit of the hospital seen  in the picture, forgot the name was it the Longmore on Salisbury Place.

I'm 99.9% sure they're not there for the football.  What was happening that day?

Was it when billy graham was in the uk in 1955?

Yes, very much so.   Anyone know what it was ?  A hotel or financial/legal company perhaps ?     Wasn't there a Hearts director who was also a direct of LAS ?    Round about  1980 I think   ?

Edit - I may be thinking of Jim Souness actually.

Interesting to see a Rankin's fruit shop there.  I read an article recently about the founder of Rankin's - he'd seen how popular fresh fruit was in parts of the US, and the number of fruit shops that had sprung up in towns & cities.  So he decided to give it a go in Edinburgh.      I can still remember the buzz and smell of fresh fruit & flowers going in to Rankins at the West End  with my Mum in the 60s (where Ryans Bar is now).   A real Edinburgh landmark.
