Certainly doesn't appear to be the answer to our left back problem if it is him. Maybe to be played further forward and left backs still being looked at this now.

WTF are you on about judging? The video is explaining he's more of an attacking player and that's all I was saying. So take your face palm and put it somewhere deserving of it for another occasion cheers!

Quick scan at youtube doesn't show much defending but he looks quick and a bit of a baller going forward.

Mitchell, Brandon and Randall all appear to be more suited as wing backs in contrast to Smith. This eould enable us to play 3-5-2 or 4-5-1 against the Hobos. Team could look like -

McLaughlin

Smith/Hughes Souttar  Berra

Brandon/Randall Mitchell

Cochrane Buaben Djoum

De Kogel Isma

Perhaps Levein sees him playing further up the field where his defensive capabilities would give Brandon/Smith protection when needed. A rapid left sided winger would do us no harm and it sounds like he thrives at wing back if we go with a back 3 too. We have just achieved a record amount of clean sheets so the lb position does not need desperately filled.

For me he's exactly what the squad is crying out for, more balance on the left. Who knows if he'll be a success but it's a step in the right direction. Hopefully he settles in well.

Hibs got one we were after, it happens. He's never played at this level either btw, so he should as big a gamble as anyone else in the same situation. We don't need a goalkeeper either so them signing Scott Bain Ian neither here nor there.

Greg Tansey is abolsutely not a player who would "walk in to our side." He played in a relegated ICT team and has lasted less than six months at Aberdeen before being punted back his previous level in Ross County.

Jamie Murphy we could never cover the percentage of wages (barely convinced Rangers will but that's their problem) so he should be irrelevant as an example.

McGinn would likely have improved us, but that said he's not going to suddenly turn Aberdeen from a team that's failed to beat us and have been fortunate not to lose twice, in to one that's miles ahead.

We're not being "left behind" by not signing players for the sake of it. Folk have short memories - remember how we fared after last January's influx? The window is nine days old. We're also half way through the season so the need to "get business done early" doesn't really apply.

Tansey would greatly improve us. Where are Aberdeen in the league? Yes miles ahead. Keep head in sand though.

The Man Utd website says that he used to be an attacker but has been made into a leftback. From what I've read on his twitter page, a lot of fans want him in the first team. So if we can get him for the remainder of the season, I think he could excite us. Sounds a bit like a Marcelo type left back to me.

Tansey has only played a handful of games though so he is really not a part of Aberdeen's good form.

Played 90 mins on Monday for U23s in 3-0 defeat against West Ham very good going forward lots of pace, and a free kick specialist.seen him score lots of free kicks on Man Utd tv.Would be a superb addition to our squad,he’s not that far away from breaking through to there 1st team squad.Maybe that’s why they want to let him go on loan if there’s any truth in the rumours.heres hoping.

If Tansey is that great why have they just binned him after 6 months and only a handful of starts?

Should we sign every castoff from a team just because they are ahead of us in the league?

And Greg Tansey is the reason for that?

Aberdeen are ahead of us in the league largely due to having much better midfield / attacking options than us. We had them in our sights to some extent in our promotion season. Since then we have moved in diametrically differing directions. Levein has done well with the limited options at his disposal in the last 6 months.  Whilst this window has almost 3 weeks remaining, it's likely to be defined by the outcome on 21st. Not much point pulling a couple of rabbits out the hat at the end of the month if we get eliminated. Although there could be considerable heat by that time to necessitate action to try and somehow placate the angry hoards.

Aberdeen are not ahead of us due to Greg Tansey however. McInnes must be relieved he got him under freedom of contract and not the £200,000 failed bid in previous window. He was a strange signing for them imo. Got a few goals for ICT from long range shots but never really a stand out whenever I saw him. McInnes "success" at Aberdeen has largely been down to picking up the better players from a lower ranked SPL rival and in the main it has worked out. Perhaps Tansey will do well at County and get another chance at Aberdeen once Kenny McLean leaves in the summer. I do suspect that County are more his level though. The success rate of McInnes in the transfer market despite this is still very good though

Despite our lack of midfield options, I don't see anything in Greg Tansey to think he would be any improvement on what we have at present

Jake Mulraney was immense last night, came off injured just after half time and gave the caley fans a nice wee clap & wave (maybe reading into that too much as I was excited he is linked with us)...he is so fast it is unreal, tore Mcghee a new one throughout the first half and his goal was a corker! Had my doubts having seen him a few times this season but he can certainly turn it on and would surely improve the squad.

Interesting to hear. Suspect this will be a deal Hearts will do this month

I believe Jordan McGhee has had a few difficult games at Falkirk this season

Loan stars recalled. A simple assessment in first team training camp or a sign that little will be happening in terms of transfer market?

Out of interest, which ones of out loanees could make it in the first team, if any?

Guess that's why Levein has recalled them - so he can answer your question !

Interesting that Liam Smith isn't one of the players going but I am guessing that his loan agreement with St Mirren negates that. Or it might mean that his arse is out the door in the summer.

I think he has a contract to June 2019

Unfortunately for Smith right back is probably the one position in our squad where we are relatively well placed.

I suspect he will sign for St Mirren permanently in the summer

Why should we fall over ourselves to support every single player that's ever been at our club?

We had him. He didn't work out. I'm not going to renew my Perry Kitchen Appreciation Club membership every year until one of us dies.

Tragic.

then why mention him then along with a daft comment, I thought he was very good for us and gave us decent performances. Oh and by the way the MLS is now a very decent league. I have to say I found it quite funny that you poke fun at other leagues when our one is a one horse race every season now. Celtic as much as I hate to say this are the only club here that would do anything decent but they would still not win it.Take it in on sky sports and you will see

A new striker doesn't have to be on the plane to Spain when he already lives in Spain.

I'm sure the trip won't just be for training.

I've heard we are looking at a Slovenian winger.

Could be one of these three here mate.

https://www.futwiz.com/en/fifa18/nation/slovenia/totalstats/all/leftwingers/44/0

Jelenic (25) plays for Carpi, but had more success at Livorno.

Rajsel (24) was at PSG, but had more game time at Union SG in the Belgian top flight, and is currently at Oostende but hasn't featured for them yet.

Elsnik (19) was at Derby County and then loaned to Swindon, he's still young yet so could turn out to be decent. He's represented Slovenia at U17, U18, and U19 levels.

So if the Swiss winger was a swinger, the Slovenian is a Slinger? Does he sling in quality crosses?

The first batch were left wingers I quoted, or it could be any one of this lot who are all right wingers (can you tell I'm quiet today?)

Ilicic (29) currently plays at Atalanta after leaving Fiorentina, and as much as I'd love it to be him, no chance!

Omladic (28) currently plays for Gruether Furth in Germany, but not really getting any game time.

Verbic (24) currently plays for Dynamo Kiev after joining from Copenhagen, but again, he hasn't played a game for them yet.

Crnigoj (22) currently plays for Lugano in Switzerland, he's had 68 appearances for them since joining in 2015 and scored 5 goals, also represented his country at all junior levels, seems solid enough.

Bottom one. Swiss winger - Slovenian winger. By jove  John you may have cracked it, what does he have left on his contract?

Further, Leeds United signed another winger Alioski in the last window from Lugano, perhaps looking to UK clubs. So desperate for news, I will make up any shit to convince myself we are onto a star :)
