Feckin Tories

At least the other major economies had the decency to recover their economies to above pre pandemic levels before heading towards recession.

Feckin Tories indeed :whistling:

From the OECD:

Compared to the pre-pandemic level, UK GDP in Q2 2022 was 0.2% lower (this figure was recently revised lower). This compares with Eurozone GDP being 1.8% higher than its pre-pandemic level, while US GDP was 3.5% higher.

And don’t forget Clownshoes oft-repeated clarion call to the masses that the U.K. had the bestest, greatest, fastest, fandabbydoziest COVID vaccine rollout on the planet. Which means we had a head start on all those other countries in emerging from the lockdowns. But for some weird reason, the U.K. continues to significantly lag behind.

The shit-for-brains posters on here sadly persist.

Sacked for touching a young mans thigh.

These beasts cannot help themselves. Glad they aren't untouchable these days although common mugs like ourselves would probably be receiving sexual assault charges.

There's no moderates in that party James. No normal balanced rational human being is voting for that collection of self interested, lying racists.

The hilarious thing is that there's a potential opportunity in the political space for a mainly centrist or perhaps centre right party.  Both to appeal directly to the majority of the electorate and also to partly occupy the huge void in the centre that Labour have free access to.  All of this extreme right wing nonsense is completely the wrong direction and will continue to appeal to an ever diminishing section of people.  They're walking themselves out of power.  Long may it continue.  Keep on a-walking

They're all hopeless. There's barely a decent politician in the UK but Westminster really do think people are fools which a fair chunk are!

Pre 2016 I'd have agreed with you.

Since then though the political landscape has changed permanently. The rump of entre right voters have gone beyond ever being able to be centrist again. It's a politics of isolationism a 'trumpian maga' mentality that Britain (England) will once again rise to lead the world and the only thing stopping it is brown faces/lefty lawyers/wokists/sweaty socks/whatever the Daily Heil panto villain du jour is.

Politics is so polarised now that the middle ground is very thin.

The big poll leads for Keith are misleading and I dare say over exaggerated.

Tricky. India want the right to move to UK in trade deal.

Not tricky really

We just need to sign a free trade agreement with them which creates a single market in return for freedom of movement and agreement on common standards to be decided by a court of justice or something like that

We can call it the BIU (British India Union)

Simples

Isnt the issue with this proposal it just doesn't go far enough? Albeit I appreciate and I assume easier to influence renewable than the larger energy/gas markets for a variety if reasons.

This doesn't seem a proposal that should be criticised, outside not going far enough

It absolutely doesn't go far enough.

On the face of it, it appears they've picked the soft target.

If it has to be an either/or, they should priorities maximum potential revenue, not what will avoid maximum potential grief from big hydrocarbon.

Lots of cash flowing into E&P again. I've seldom been so busy.

Weds 19th October: A vote on allowing Fracking in England is turned into a proxy vote of confidence in Liz Truss. MPs are bullied and physically manhandled into the voting lobby. Vote passes.

Thurs 20th October: Liz Truss resigns anyways.

Weds 26th October: Fracking is banned in England again.
