Tactically if he can survive until the summer recess, come back and immediately handout stuff to his core supporters, take stock of Labour's position as still being weak because the English fence sitting voters do not like bland Starmer then he could call a GE in late October, early November before the high utility costs really hit. Imagine that, because that is possible and imagine further he wins. Scotland would go into meltdown due to it's socialist leanings. Lot's of it's in that but do not rule out his tactics. No leader should ever have expected to survive that; Corbyn should have walked the plank. If anyone had to put together a campaign to remove him, that was down to Corbyn being an insufferable little squirt much, much more than anyone involved in that campaign. It was obvious from the get-go that Corbyn was unelectable; he had the lowest number of votes from the parliamentary party. Who, but an utter cretin, would not take the message that he probably shouldn't try to lead a party when 85% of its most significant members - the ones who need most leading - think you're an arsehole? I'm thankful for anyone who took him out. I'm not massively Labour but I'm grateful for anyone who stands a chance of taking the Johnson government out and I find it hard to stomach people like Diane Abbott who seem intent on damaging Starmer (and the rest of the Labour party), thereby enabling Johnson & co. Look I agree lots of different sides to the arguements here but all that needs to be done is tell the Tory's in the south that unemployed folk are lazy and getting too much from the State and at the same time give loads of handouts to them, and every voter sitting on the fence and bingo. Then every Tory MP will see things turn. Bribes and media influence wins over people thinking. That will not take long and that is why if, and it is a big if he can get the messages out he wants and gets cash into the folk's pockets he knows will vote for them then it could be a winner. BJ can tee that up all now before the summer recess ready to drop on their return. For me the only thing that stops this potential tactic is the Sue Gray report and more fines. If the Tories can somehow control those issues, the report more so than the fines because only Boris needs to declare the fines then who knows what will happen. Hate the idea but just putting it out there. If he has not gone by now then everyday that passes makes him one day safer. A horrible thought unfortunately. Nowadays, there's no need to live up to any formal framework of rules, standards, morals. It's all been razed to the ground. All you need is industrial quantities of lies and bullshit and the uncanny ability to convince people they're better off than they are that the world caves in without the status quo. The equivalent of Michael Foot back in the day. Decent guy but absolutely no chance of being elected and only ended up strengthening the Conservatives’ grip on the country, to the detriment of those he had to get into No.10 to protect. A Labour leader has to be someone who people could change their vote from the Tories for. Corbyn wasn’t that leader. For all his faults and being foolish to get involved with Bush in Iraq, Tony Blair kept the Conservatives out for years. He didn’t do it by bringing back policies which went down well in the 60s and 70s. Times have changed. Britain has changed.
