Which itself was lifted by Shakespeare from an old Icelandic/Scandinavian legend about a prince called Amleth, who vowed revenge on his uncle after he murdered his father and married his mother. It fell between two stools, part of it wanted to be a mythical piece of oddness like Valhalla Rising and part of it wanted to be an adventure. It failed on both counts for me.
