Major cock-up with the formation and selection tonight but Neilson has more than enough recent (and long term) credit in the bank for us to not hold that one against him too much. We dust ourselves down and don't look back. Let's pick up where we left off vs Aberdeen and Hibs and put Utd to the sword.

We go back to what's worked pre-Livingston, albeit with one or two changes.

Clark

Hill

Sibbick

Rowles

Smith/Atkinson

Snodgrass

Devlin (Grant/Kio if Devlins injured)

Cochrane

Kuol

Shankland

Ginnelly

I don't want to see Kingsley or McKay anywhere near the starting XI. One is still concussed, the other... I don't know what his excuse is.

Grant Snodgrass Devlin (Kio if not fit)

Humphreys Shankland Forrest

433. No need for 3 ch's against the bottom side at home.

Kingsley was horrifc tonight and surely Mckay won't start. If not Kuol give Oda a start.

Based on what? We’re in form and a gamble, all be it a weird one, back fired tonight. Rangers pressed every ball for the best part of 70-80 minutes tonight and we struggled. Utd won’t press us nearly enough and if we get the team selection right we can pick up from where we left off.

Hill cannot play rb, did you watch tonight

He was rightly hooked at HT. Kingsley looked a mile off it as well. We will be back to winning on Saturday.

Agreed and while I agree Hill not a RWB he won't have as difficult a test 90% of games

That's fair. I'd really like us to start giving players opportunities in their preferred positions though, we have decent squad depth now and there's no chance Atkinson would've put in a worse performance than Hill did in that 1st half tonight.

Yip fair point, still trying to get my head around Kingsley's performance, like he was nobbled!

Hill has been exceptional at centre half and now some want him moved to rb or rwb?? It's not his position. Have we learned nothing from tonights shambles??

Any less than an utter riding of the bottom placed team in the league, will have me very annoyed.

McKay & Kingsley can sit down. By all means try Kuol in this one.

Humphrys, Devlin & Smith will be back too.

****ed off with tonight. They've the opportunity to go again, & need to deliver on it.

More confident that we will then.

They are bottom for a reason.

There will be a reaction after tonight

What's this illness that is affecting payer availability?

Is that why Humphrys was out?

Why are we now playing our 20 goal striker in behind?

I just don't get that atall. Swap Oda and Shankland.

I want to see a reaction. Both from Neilson with the team selection and the players with not making school boy mistakes.

Any slip up here and teams below us could become quite close again, the questions start being asked. Get it done Hearts

St Mirren away is a tricky one this season, hope you can get a draw though. We're all rootin' for ya

That's the spirit!

Your detailed prediction about the game is of course entirely correct, you DON'T know what will happen, which is true of any football match. However on the balance of current form and the relative quality within the two sides, we should have a reasonably good chance of winning.

Keep up the good work.

He’s been playing, and scoring, in behind Ginnelly for weeks now. I’d be happy with him up top too. He’s good at both positions.

I think the players eyes glaze over. They feel tired and nauseas. They dont understand what they are required to do. They start to feel worthless and unable to function. Confusion sets in.  It happens every time Neilson does a team talk.

Doubt it given last night was our first defeat in 10. 😄

Colour blind. Certainly couldn't differentiate between blue or maroon last night

Spot on with this team. The squad is that strong that Neilson cant continue to be loyal to underperforming players (Kingsley, McKay).

Yes, that was disappointing.  I was hoping he would be the cover for Smith for rest of season but clearly not based on last night though I think he picked up a knock early doors that hampered him.

I did wonder last night whether illness caused the obvious lethargy throughout the team last  night. Guys who are usually very energetic eg Cochrane looked like they were hauling a bus at times last night. Maybe it was just the pace that Rangers played at but who knows?

Thankfully we can very quickly focus on the next game.  3 Points needed to maintain the gap to 4th.  That's our reality.

Last night was a shocker but Saturday should be completely different. It's a must win game for me from the point of view that we have to be winning against the bottom of the league team at home if we expect to end up best of the rest again. 4-0 to us please.
