Our morning newspaper, we only have the one, has run cartoons on successive days mocking the new King. Unfortunately for them, the last major poll conducted here 3 or 4 years ago had an 82% favourable rate for the monarchy. Admittedly that was during the reign of the late Queen. What we will see over the next couple of years here and in Australia is visits from the King and other senior royals. They will shore up the monarchy and the people who dream of a socialist democratic republic will have their dreams shattered yet again.
