Yep. How long could it lumber on in crisis though before the MPs put country over party and declare no confidence. I hate to hazard a guess.

I would say till about end 2024. They're not going to call GE, and somehow are convinced BJ is the option that gives them best chance to win next election.

I hope they're wrong.

Rishi has hit 103 nominations from MPs according to BBC analysis. We have to cross our fingers that Bongo either changes his mind on standing or doesn’t get to 100. I agree with @Cruyff. If he gets his 100 and goes to the members, he’ll win. He has a cult like following amongst the grass roots members who seem to forgive him for absolutely anything, much like Trumpet Man’s devotees across the pond.

I know he is. But I think he'll do what's required to save his party and that's by helping the 99%, not the 1%.

And I did say if there wasn't a GE. I'd rather they were ousted. But sometimes you have to look for some cover in times like these.

I'm not arguing with you, I hate them, but they are not going away, so the UK(Mostly England) need someone to help them and Boris will just help himself, without any ado. He's a fecking horrible greedy fat *****. Rishi is just a *****.

Bloody hell! Can you please stop talking such balanced and level headed sense! I’d have thought you’d have wanted to put them all in the Lions’ enclosure at Blair Drummond with nothing on :D

I thought they weren't going to the members (to be chosen by MPs) given they picked Truss last time and don't want a repeat of that fiasco ?

If 2 or more members get over 100 MP nominations it goes to an online vote amongst the members. Some bloke on the radio is saying that Bongo shat out of it in 2016 and may do the same again.

The whole thing is a fiasco and we’re currently the laughing stock of the international press.

Ri is now the most levelheaded guy in the room. Close thread please mods.

No, someone has kidnapped ri and replaced him with a bot. Either that or the drugs are doing their job.

Thousands of elderly Conservative Party members could be excluded from voting in the leadership contest because the party does not have an email address for them.

Officials will phone those members without an email over the weekend to urge them to add an email address to enable them to vote in the contest, party sources told The Times.

You can just imagine Tory HQ phoning up the old dears

"Hi, Tory Central Office here" and everybody hanging up thinking it's a prank call.

Of course "brighter days lie ahead" - Truss is no longer casting a shadow over the position of Prime Minister with her dimness.

Then she followed in their Master's footsteps by quoting a Roman philosopher - entirely inappropriately.

"It's not because things are difficult that we do not dare; it's because we do not dare that things are difficult."

No, Lizzy. Things became difficult because you attempted, without any capability or sense, to do things that were obviously barking mad and flew contrary to all advice from people who are more knowledgeable than you.

An utterly appalling human being. I kind of tolerated Thatcher at the time (I know, I know) but this version, Margerine Thatcher, can go and rot.

It is nothing short of criminal what she did, I know there is no recourse on her but the untold damage she has inflicted on the economy is unforgivable. Her parting speech was utter condescending crap, an absolute amatuer and dreadful politician.

Things are difficult because you ***** are doing it for yourselves and not for the country.

Team Junta in full-on vanity exercise.  Roll on tomorrow... most of the same arseholes in another proclaimed new era,  new government.  Everything's the fault of the previous government.

Let's hope it's the last school photo that Rees Mogg is in. Surely even he wouldn't accept a position from Sunak after calling him a Socialist not that long ago.

Quick work by the photographer!

They'll have left the chairs and benches there for tomorrow's equivalent. I wonder how many faces will stay.

And what is Jeremy Chunt doing with his left foot? Is he actually Keyser Soze?

What's funny is, there are morons on here who read and take in the shite spouted at them by the right wing media... while believing there is a left wing media agenda.

What is to be done with morons such as these???

Intriguing comments about Ms Truss and compromising positions on HIGNFY by Hislop.

Surely not.

Has that not been discussed earlier on the thread? A renowned smuggler of the sausage, so she is. Tory MPs Mark Field, Kwasi Kwarteng and Boris Johnson have all been confirmed or alleged to have dipped their diddlers in that skanky ho while she been married.

So not an 'alien' compromising position, comrade.

A little summer rumour that I'd heard.
