I would say the best aim for him now is, to look no further than Hearts, aim to be a top Hearts player. Cherish every game and look to put up a good fight to win a new contract here. As of right now there’s a significant chance Hearts will be the biggest club of his career.

At best, if he comes back and performs for us and has no further recurrence, Rangers or Celtic might try and buy him for a million or two in a few years. That’s the only way I see us getting a fee for him now. But even for that to happen, he would need to stage a seriously good sustained comeback for Hearts over 2-3 seasons, in a winning team, winning more Scotland caps. What a mountain to climb but can only wish Soapy all the best as he’s a great lad and doesn’t deserve what’s happened.

I'd say we're having a very adult discussion by kickback standards tbh

Ir's another excuse for the moaners to moan.

When they're done with Berra they'll move on to someone else.

Christ we’re a lot worse off at centre back than I thought if a guy who has played there once or twice as a stand in is the best we’ve got.

Once of twice? Closer to a double figures I’d think

Not sure if the poster meant it was in the match or in training. Either way, welcome back to Scotland Gary

Let’s hear your assessment of Berra then since no one is really interested in your assessment of unidentified  posters on JKB

The posters are easily identified.

If you ask me about Berra on a Berra thread I'll gladly respond but this one is about transfers.

Ach, Berra's Berra. Every other club in our league would take him in a heartbeat if he was available. He's making more mistakes than we'd like but he has some qualities for this league and we're easily winning it so far with him in the team. He can be our Roddy MacDonald for this season and just keep it simple on the ground and win every header.

To me transfers mean replacing players with better players, therefore Berra is a valid discussion point. Do we need to replace him or don’t we Al ?

As long as this is his last season I’ve no problem with him being selected in this league, although he’s often in the mix somewhere when we concede

The Kingsley news is great to hear as we have secured a free kick specialist as well as a reliable wing back for this and next season. Robbie has delivered on this one as I am sure he has with GMS too. Starting to feel we are going to see a much better thought out signing policy become the norm.

Pity about his penalty taking tho😪

To me transfers (in this context) mean who we're after.  We need to replace  other players but I'm sure that's been covered elsewhere

Irving and ginelly almost completely signed up massive business for us, as of Tuesday we were in talks with 2 strikers the Walsall one and another as we are at a little deadlock of discussions with Walsall. Apologies doesn’t seem to be one in this week like I mentioned but i think it’s clear we were trying to make it happen and still are so🤞🏻. Don’t get names often but led to believe we have an extreme interest in kyle Turner from Dunfermline

Feeling good about that sad comment now ?

I feel sorry for him, I wouldn’t want any player to get injured. But I don’t rate him. He makes reckless challenges with his body out of position, time after time. He gets done by players and has to chase back, sure he has pace but I prefer defenders that can think one step ahead and spot an interception or well timed tackle. Alert to danger not reactive to it like Brandon. There is a particular type of player that is at all times, an increased risk of injuring others or himself. The rash tackler. I can tell you that I’ve seen plenty of that type, in my time watching Scottish Football. Usually they’re wearing a yellow, green, blue or white shirt at Tynecastle. Not maroon.

It’s good to hear we are keeping options open by actively chasing 2 strikers. There’s no need to pay excessive money if a club is playing hardball - go for the other one.

Cheers for the info mate 👍  Turner certainly looked good in the game at East end park.

You would agree, would you not, that a big part of the transfer process is identifying where you are weak and need to improve, where you are adequately covered and where you are strong and that’s before you start letting people leave or bringing people in, therefore discussing if Berra is someone we need to replace is perfectly on topic in a transfer thread ? No ? So what’s your opinion on Berra. Here’s your chance to shine with your wisdom.

Agree to a certain extent but we are in a position of strength vs Walsall here. If Adebayo is the primary target and is preferred over the second option then we should sign him. The worst that could happen is we wait until the summer to get him. We can get away without a striker for the rest of this season IMO so let’s pick the best of the 2 we are after and wait if we need to (pretty sure Walsall will cash in now if we pre contract him - would be silly not to given their league position and their financial position)

Apparently paying £180k for this boy from Walsall

Goodoh.

I'd like to thank Neil Doncaster personally for this transfer fee offer.

Having led the Scottish footballing community in expelling us, he has ensured our fans rallied round, pumping more money in to the club, we have lost no or very little by being in the Championship as there are no crowds anyway (and I'd think we'd fill Tynie anyway), and we also had access to a £500k free govt grant, which the Prem teams didn't.  He really has helped our club in our medium term plans.

We will more than have matched hibs for income this season if they don't get a better Scottish cup run than us.  They helped us get more money than they lost by voting us down.

Thanks Hibs

We seem to be making all the right moves. With Smith and Kingsley committed, and GMS signed, it will be great if we can tie these two down for the next 3-4 years. Both young and potential to develop further.

Looks like we will bring a striker in, and squad looks in good shape.

I would still like us to address CH though. We need some reliable quality in there. Halkett is decent but Berra is on his last legs, Popescu is ok squad cover, and Souttar unfortunately can’t seem to get a run of fitness.

Yeehaa!  Funny innit.

Before anyone comes in with pedentry, we all know the prize money will be less and we can't attain European qualification (unless we win the cup, which we almost definitely will - especially with our new "free" signings).

I don't usually concern myself with finance in football (don't hugely understand why people do, unless it's a proper hobby with a proper knowledge which it seems with maybe FF - I mean armchair accountancy...??!), but it will be interesting to see our P&L against Prem teams for this season.

Are you thick?  I shall not answer about Berra except on a Berra thread no matter how you try to twist it.  Even then I shall reply if I feel my view takes the debate forwatd.

Do you have any new transfer info without slagging current players?

😱 He must be very highly thought of!   I would expect a player that can be acquired on a pre contract to be signed for free.   Hope it works out.

Yeah be interesting to see what we do at CH.  Bit funny it's kind of the one position not been mentioned by Robbie.

My guess is somewhat waiting to see how Soapy gets on, plus a bit of respect for Christophe.

We have enough there to see out this season.  Soapy seems good, the we have a pairing in him and Halkett*, and perhaps we're looking at competitiion.  If we can't rely of Souttar, then we need to sign a very good stick on first choice.  We also have squad options such as Haring, and he's very young, but how close is Flatman (my guess is he'll go on loan next season).  Any mention of shopping for a CH, I suppose is conf to Berra he's done and to Soapy we're not sure about his rehab and ability to get back to where he was.  Doesn't mean we're not working on it, but less public chat.

* I think I seem to be in minority, but I like this partnership.  Souttar-Halkett totally ticks the boxes for me.  Let's remember this time they'll have a brilliant goalie and two top class FBs beside them, and maybe even a midfield ahead of them who do their job too.

Probably a discussion for a later date but I hope that ****** is nowhere near Tynecastle even in those circumstances.  The thought of his smug puss posing for pictures and handing the trophy over is already making my blood boil!

It's just the irony of that half mill grant that they aren't getting, and it's because they voted us down.

Message boards are what they are but posters like FF don't half give them a bit of depth.

Hope we sign a striker with this money who then scores against them.

It's great being poppy money thieving gets.  Anything that gets up their noses
