Anything2
8 minutes ago, MMHearts said: I thought the Hibs players were told when they deferred their wages there would be no signings until the players were paid back all they were owed..... The interpretation of that statement has been debated a few times. I think it said until everyone was back to full salary or something like that so you could, and it has been, argued that that means all players are back to receiving their full wages each month which they may be or will be by the time Nisbet's contact begins. That doesn't necessarily mean that the backdated pay is all up to date. All political spin. Either way, they will still need to settle the deferred wages out of next year's budget so must have an impact.
martoon
So much for the holy Hibees, eh. Edinburgh's moral compass who are driven by honesty, integrity, decency and, of course, living within their means at all times. They slated us for signing CG whilst existing players wages were cut etc. and will, no doubt, do so again when we next sign a player. Glad I have nothing to do with Hibs fans. Scraped the ba5tard5 of years ago. It's like banging your head against a brick wall trying to reason with them and their corkscrew code of ethics. Guest ToqueJambo
Focusing on the first team, as Gordon has stated, is completely the wrong strategy in this situation, not least because the coronavirus shows no signs of going away anytime soon. Focusing on protecting staff jobs and using it as an opportunity to promote youth players and build some stability for the long term should be the main focus. I know for a fact it's Budge's priority. Tom Farmer would not have done this. His priority has always been on Hibs in the community. Gordon is very clearly doing a Romanov - he wants success on the pitch despite the gap between Hibs and Celtic and Rangers and even Aberdeen being far too big to bridge with the odd 250k signing here and there. Some Hibs fans will lap this up but a lot will be pretty worried. He's ripping up thing like a focus on youth that have been a part of their identity for a while.
