I know there has been quite a few rumblings about this 'circuit breaker' 2 week full lockdown over the school holidays but every day it gets closer the more I believe it 🤔

Meeting about Glasgow etc this afternoon- numbers certainly seem not to be coming down there.

Has anyone got any "evidence " of anything Covid related?  Do we know how many cases are false positives? Do we have any "evidence " that the tests pick up only live, infectious virus? Do we know how many people have died WITH Covid rather than BECAUSE of it? We do know that hospital admissions and deaths were overstated earlier this year and that doctors were under pressure to record Covid as a factor. Has anyone explained why??

Do the scientists ,who regularly present their dodgy dossiers with false predictions , have any evidence to base their figures on?

You seem to think that care home owners, universities,  clinicians etc are all responsible but not Sturgeon when, of course, it was her govt who set a target of emptying hospitals because of a mythical wave of patients who would overwhelm the hospitals, based on yet another dodgy dossier from Imperial College.

EOTHO was a great initiative to help pubs and restaurants boost business and recover some of their lost earnings.  Sturgeon more or less admitted that she would close them, as long as the UK govt would extend the furlough scheme and cover staff costs for doing nothing. A highly irresponsible approach.

Finally,  people are responsible for their own health and outcomes. If a food deal is on offer then you can choose not to eat it in the same way you can walk past junk food offers in the supermarket and towards the free fruit offers.  Govts are not there to micromanage everyone's life. Exercise and diet, we all know the guidelines.

Even if nobody had any evidence about what is happening it still wouldn't entitle you to bombard us with your notion that the virus is weakening.

We do however know a lot more now than we did before but we always knew that tests were not foolproof but as i understand things the quality and reliability of testing is improving for a number of reasons.

We do know that Coronavirus kills very few people directly and we do know that deaths are recorded of people who tested positive within the last 28 days as Covid deaths. You are correct then when you say that we overstated the number of deaths earlier this year. It may also be true that many people who died in this period were not recorded as Covid related because they were never tested. In any case we have huge numbers of premature deaths linked to Covid and any overstatement is not really relevant in the overall picture.

I am not aware that doctors in Scotland have been pressured into attributing deaths erroneously to Covid. I would like to see your evidence that they have. Clearly there is a difficulty for doctors in deciding how much of a part Covid played in a person's death and they might then decide to include Covid as a cause of death even though they cannot be sure. I would though like to know who is pressurising them to include Covid in the death certificates and why you think that might be happening.

You and many others are constantly stating that you don't think the projections made by the scientists are in any way accurate. You should bear in mind that had we underprepared there would have been even more of an outcry and you should also be aware that the pandemic is not over and so we don't yet know how many people will die or suffer debilitating illness.

Nicola sturgeon is not a clinician and does not make the decisions on whether or not to discharge people from hospital. There may be some evidence that clinicians were pressurised into quick discharges but i'm not aware of it, are you? What do you know about targets for emptying hospitals?

The FM is also accused of "Sturgeon more or less admitted that she would close them, as long as the UK govt would extend the furlough scheme and cover staff costs for doing nothing. A highly irresponsible approach." What does mean? She has a different view to those who think subsidising fast food outlets in a pandemic is a good thing. She is admitting nothing.

Of course people should take responsibility for their own health but the government should be responsible too and should not offer inducements to people to damage their health especially during a pandemic.

The part I quoted made you sound bitter, I don't give a shit whether you are or not. You have got a bee in your bonnet, though. That much is clear.

FWIW GP's salaries aren't particulary large for the responsibilities they carry, and it's not as if they give the required qualifications away with bags of crisps.

Peanuts and monkeys, eh.

Nobody's forcing anybody not to be a doctor.

You are the person who endlessly complains about the levels of taxation and how despite your large government funded salary this has impacted adversely on your life. Despite this you think it a good idea to subsidise this part of the hospitality industry while others in our community got absolutely nothing.

You also never tire of telling us about your lifestyle induced overweight and unhealthy patients who should not be such a burden on the NHS and yet here you are advocating for subsidised junk food. Who do you think is most likely to take advantage of these half price offers?

The reality is as usual that this government scheme was nothing more than a payback to Tory donors at Mcdonald's and various breweries and pub groups. Pubs are closing rapidly all over the country, why would any responsible government want to subsidise a declining industry in this way? Why would any responsible doctor want the government to subsidise the consumption of junk food?

Sorry bud, I'm self employed, like, entirely self employed.

EOTHO aided many smaller chains/ restaurants, and I 'm sure the beneficiaries of the offer are mainly smaller busineses who dont have the reserves/share holders to bail them out, and the employees who still ahve jobs thanks to that.

yes, I have the odd grump about tax rates- the only people that dont are the ones who barely pay any.

And there was no obligation to buy junk food, thats a personal freedom.

and as for the bit in bold- scotland still has a major beef about, erm, shipbuilding and mining which were already in a death spiral and the likes of yourself still hate thatcher for- presumably you think that what she did to them was the behaviour of a responsible government?

I thought not

You sound like the tory party in the 80's. Don't give the proles any money, they just spend it on booze and fags. See those single parents 😀

Loads of good restaurant and pub businesses survived on eat EOTHO and managed to keep staff at least for a while. There were plenty of businesses offering healthy food. Yes, perhaps the Scottish govt. needs to Educate a bit more, but they prefer the stick approach.

Didn't work for Ferrier. The belief that that Scottish people are too ignorant to eat healthy food is quite frankly, disgusting.

The £500 payment is a UK wide policy and the UK government must be funding it as it's a financial matter

He offered an opinion. It has not been corroborated by anybody else of any standing and is easily checkable. If you tell us the virus is weakening you should have some evidence to show that it has changed you cannot provide evidence that it has not.

In any case if you are referring to the interview i saw then the doctor spoke in Italian and his words were translated. I think it possible he said the effects of the virus were diminishing not that the virus was weakening.

Have you noticed the substantial rise in deaths and hospital admissions recently. Do you think that might be because the virus is strengthening?

Anyone have any figures for the older age groups along the lines of numbers infected, then subsequently the percentages of said group that have progressed to being hospitalised, then admitted to ICU and ultimately died?

Not sure what my double standard is.

Coconut seems to think that £40 an hour is “largesse” for a GP.

Try getting a plumber for that, or a mechanic.

But as I’m not in a working class profession it chokes him.

I would suggest it’s inverted snobbery.

The fact HMRC take 48% off me vs probably gives to him makes me a damn sight more socialist than he is.

HMRC don't take 48% off you. They take 48% above a certain amount. Your first 11000 is free and they take 20%  of the next whatever it is, until you pay 48%. They should tax everyone 60 % of everything, with tax credits to pump up the poor.

I wish I could get £40 an hr to type out a prescription and say next. And your commission on the vaccine will be pretty tidy, won't it.

Reminds me of an envious friend of mine who complained that I had a better salary than him ( we were in different jobs ) . I told him I’m getting a better Salary because I worked at it , I went to university got a degree etc . I didn’t just Land in my job , it took effort and comittment  which he lacked . Seething with jealousy really but too lazy to do something about his life .
