I think there should be a proactive bit of contact tracing here.   Publicise the details of the two trains she was on.   Ask people to come forward if they were on them and give them priority access to tests.

Yep, you need to make up your own mind about whether the pictures of him with the Hitler youth were true or not. Most Nationalists I know accept it but say it was a long time ago. I suppose people change, but that's the risk you run when you have a broad church from the far left and the far right in your party.

Yep, I've seen the photos, however, the kids were described as visiting Germans in Lincolnshire in the text I read, no mention of HY.

Mud sticks especially when the establishment is against you and yes the SNP are a broad church,  has to be given what I expect will happen to the party when independence is achieved. Not sure far left or right were ever part of the party though.

Margaret Ferrier has absolutely taken the piss. She should either resign or be sacked. What she's done is worse than Cummings, as he didn't have a positive test and didn't mix with others.

She's singlehandedly made enforcement of the rules a lot harder.

Plus due to contact tracing other MPs will now have to self isolate.

I'd quite like to have been a fly on the wall at Bute House when the news came through though. I reckon the reaction would have given Krakatoa a run for it's money.😂

The news broke at teatime. Can't wait until the shit hits the fan tomorrow :D

What are the case rates?

I was there 3 weeks ago and cases were low

I bet they are still a quarter of what they are in Glasgow

Where is the evidence for this?

Without having a link there have been studies that indicate it has mutated to a weaker strain. Whether this is across the board or just in certain circumstances.

Well given the roasting NS got at FMQ's today she'll be in no mood for yet another major problem.

NS will talk about how angry she is, how the horses will have to go without shoes (sic), how she could cry, how nobody feels it more than she does etc. etc. By then MF will have fallen on her swab. Blackford will of course, blame Westminster.

not sacked, had the whip removed so suspended.

i bet she only had the scottish nhs app on her phone and not the english one which if she did would aid in contact tracing

There was an interesting article in The Atlantic today about how the virus spreads.  And not all

is as it seems.

What it is looking like is Sweden have had success without a lockdown simply because of how the virus spreads.

No, I'm talking about natural immunity. Not less vulnetable people fighting the disease. Positive asymptomatic cases are not really cases at all and won't have a viral load to pass on. Do you have any evidence at all to indicate that vulnerable people will be "wiped out"? What if tha virus is, as it appears it is, is weaker than before??

There is no scientific evidence that the virus is weaker. The treatments and some drugs are better.
Im not an expert in anyway but in my mind natural immunity and herd immunity are very close.

I found This article is helpful in explaining it.

The good thing about these threads is it makes us research and consider various points of views that are out there. We are all on a learning curve and eventually we will find a solution to this pandemic.

If all the other passengers used the track and trace app required when passing through the barriers entering the platform to catch the rattler then they will have already been informed, deary me. Try and move with the times.

Where are you getting this nugget from?

From BBC

The SNP's Westminster leader Ian Blackford said on Thursday that he had spoken to Ms Ferrier, who accepted that what she had done was wrong.

He said: "Margaret will be referring herself to the parliamentary standards commissioner as well as the police. I am tonight suspending the whip from Margaret."

She will obviously have down loaded the App so I’d imagine a few people will be getting a text message to self isolate and or get a test.

Does the app not only contact you if you have been within a certain distance for a set amount of time? Pretty sure just being on the same train doesn't count.

isn't the fine for not self isolating £10k in england?

Fines for those breaking the rules now in place starting at £1,000 and increasing up to £10,000 for repeat offenders. That’s in England. In Scotland it’s If you fail to comply with any of these self-isolation measures then you may be fined £480 in Scotland under a fixed penalty notice.

She could well be done by both!

Aye, so simply passing through the barriers is not enough to see anyone contacted as the poster said.

Struggling to understand what motive Ferrier had that made her do what she did.   Money?   Does she get extra for turning up in the Common?   Did she need to travel to London to see a partner?  Was she on the drugs?  WTF was she thinking.   I am SNP to the core but she needs to resign immediately.  If she does not and tries to brazen it out the SG becomes a laughing stock.

The Scottish app doesn't work in England and vice versa. She would need to download both apps and turn the Scottish one off when she crossed the border.

That was my moan last week, that both apps don't work together

Ms Ferrier said she took the weekend test after experiencing "mild symptoms", but travelled to London by train at the start of the working week.

She spoke in the coronavirus debate in the House of Commons on Monday, and said she received her positive test result that evening.

"I travelled home by train on Tuesday morning without seeking advice. This was also wrong and I am sorry," she said.

"I have been self-isolating at home ever since."

Too bloody late hen. How many have you infected by your stupidity. Actually stupid doesn’t even cover what you have done. Resignation is the only way out for you now.

She left Scotland and returned to Scotland. She and her cohort represent Scotland in Westminster. They are the SNP, any meeting with Blow Hard Mumbles Bojo and it’s Sturgeon who is front and centre.

The SG is led by the SNP and they need to show leadership on behalf of the country.  A sacking is only a party decision but Ferrier resigning  shows respect for the SG and the nation.

I'm pretty sure she doesn't represent Scotland in Westminster, she represents Rutherglen and Hamilton West.

ps, she needs sacked or to resign.

The logical thing for the nations would be to all us the same app however Sturgeon would want to be different from the others particularly England.

I've said it before and realise it's not practical but the logical thing is for the whole world to use the same app or at least one's that are compatible with each other.
