Fed up reading people say the second wave is coming because the Spanish flu had a second wave. The same people who have been telling us all along this is not a flu. 🤦‍♂️

France just reported it’s first daily increase of deaths above 100 again. One country that’s relaxed it’s lockdown before us.

obviously there will be daily variations everywhere and it’s just another disease we are likely to have to live with in the short term til better treatments or a vaccine is found that’s safe and works.

Jason Leitch is a dentist, Cath Calderwood was a Midwife. I dont understand your point? This whole article is based in information released by PHE.

You sound like another enjoying the time off too much? Not happy with any positivity and only want to hear doom and gloom. Keep tuning into GMB, that will keep your spirits up. 👍

Everyone has a past and a history. He mainly picks up reports and information from papers published by others or info thats in the public domain that the negative media dont want to report.

One of the saddest things about this whole period has been the need to make people feel scared by some and to shoot down anyone who dares to be positive or share something with a bit of positivity around it.

Ill continue to keep listening and reading to Professor Karol Sikora, thanks. 👍

Has there been any mention of the R number the last few days?

Has it gone the way of the number of people tested daily statistic?

In other news Pritti Vile is definitely going ahead with the UK inbound quarantine rules 'to protect our nation and prevent spread of the virus'

I had to double check it was today's paper and not one from 3rd February.

Headline of "we owe it to the victims". Bit effing rich to use the victims to justify this policy. Its nonsense that there were no requirements for isolation/or testing and tracing for international arrivals into the UK (air or sea) throughout lockdown March-May but now as the numbers decline and the country starts to exit lockdown that they impose the 14 day rule

Makes UK look ridiculous that it is telling people arriving from countries with much better record on covid19 will have to isolate/quarantine themselves for 2 weeks.

Its not based on science (much like the 2m rule, whereas 1m is advised by WHO) but politicians wanting to look like they're doing something extra to combat the virus .. but the horse really has bolted as far as international arrivals into UK goes.

Talk in some of the papers of there being air bridges with certain countries which is promising, otherwise the UK airline and holiday industry could be goosed and many jobs lost. Targeting specific jurisdictions where the virus is currently prevalent like Brazil/Latin America fair enough, but ridiculous to ask people arriving from Greece to quarantine.

Meanwhile down here in Jersey we have all but eliminated Covid locally(only 2 active cases currently, 15 confirmed deaths with Covid). There's talk of continuing to ask people the option of isolating for 14 days (which we have had in place since March) but with an alternative of allowing people to take a test and isolate for 24/48 hours whilst awaiting the result. Hoping the latter materialises for the sake of our tourism industry and maintaining crucial air links (including the Edinburgh direct with easyJet which I waited years for and only arrived in 2018!) and so I can get back up the road to watch Hearts whenever and wherever they play

1. I'm not 'enjoying time off', I'm working from home. As long as I do my daily minimum (7.5 hrs) I can work whatever bandwidth I want.

2. If you had undertaken the mighty task of glancing to your left, you'd see I'm in Australia. So no daily dose of GMB for me.

3. Cool. Keep listening to Sikora. No thanks required.

Its all about noticing and isolating these cases asap now until a vaccine can be found or it ****s off.The problem is

1. Folk dont have trust in the goverment to do the above.

2. Folk are reluctant  to trust the government track and trace app.

3. Folk just cant help but be arseholes in this country including those employed by the government.

I'm not ashamed in the slightest about my flagrant flouting of the toilet rules. Quite the opposite in fact. There's few things more satisfying than a well baked dump in someone else's house. Windows shut, obviously.

Bizarre isn't it that This Morning - Phil and Holly can employ Sir Hugh Pennington for his wisdom on virology yet the Scottish Government cant ?? and indeed both them and the Uk Government don't have any virologists anywhere near their briefings .As Sir Hugh said the UK used to be world leaders in virology and were responsible for treatments and cures for many of the past pandemics /flus. He was aware for instance that people going back to care homes should definitely have been tested due to the kind social contact enviroments and staff coming and goings they were returning to - pity he wisdom wasn't sought.

Swedes admit that too many have died and that they should have done a better lockdown than just asking people to please think about maybe staying at home.

I listened to johan giesecke back in April I think and he seemed truly confident that they were right and everyone else was wrong. Tbf I'm sure he accepted that Sweden would be hardest hit in the short term but the best time to judge would be in a year or so when he thought countries would be more or less the same in terms of impact and death toll.

But but but they’re doing it right, meanwhile others like the Danes/Germans are back playing football and others like Hungary and Russia are allowing fans into stadiums.
