Mine too, could be fun tonight

Had a few messages in the group chat saying the same thing so assuming it's having widespread issues. Not great considering there's a full card in the football tonight, although the stewards I've had have barely took more than a passing glance at my phone when going in.

I just updated it via Google play store and it's working now

To be fair I could have shown them a picture of a cat and they would have waved me through. Wouldn’t worry about it.

No that can't be right, as we were reliably informed that once they took away our freedoms they wouldn't give them back.

That's the legal element of self isolation being removed but the guidance to self isolate will remain.

Earlier, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that the government plans to lift England's remaining Covid restrictions - which are due to end on 24 March - a month early.

Asked at the daily lobby briefing if this meant people could go to work if they had Covid, the PM's spokesman said the government would not advise anyone who tests positive to go to work once legal restrictions end.

Good news and following suit of a number other countries like Denmark. Does feel like we really beginning to put this in the rear view mirror.

Was there any news yesterday from SG when face coverings in schools may be dropped. The only thing I’ve seen is a suggestion scraped after half term in the Sun.

Was looking for something a bit more reliable.

18th of February, the day they Stick or twist on Masks, bud.

But still in corridors and communal areas. Seems a bit pointless but good news for classrooms.

'In her interview with Eddie Nestor on BBC Radio London, Dame Cressida Dick, the Metropolitan police commissioner, said it was not the job of officers guarding Downing Street to prevent illegal parties.

She would not say whether the police officers who protect the building knew about the gatherings now being investigated by the Met because they seem to have broken lockdown rules. But she went on:

"I would say one thing to you, which is that my officers are there primarily, with firearms, to keep people safe from terrorists, from armed attackers and the like. That is their primary job.

I do not ask them, and I’m not going to start asking them, to patrol the corridors of Whitehall looking for, you know, what might be going on in offices.

That is not appropriate. We don’t do it in any other environment. We wouldn’t come marching into the BBC to do that."'

Isn't that literally how the police were enforcing Covid rules? Turning up at people's doors and looking for what was going on.

I agree with her regarding the armed police, they aren’t there for trivial matters.

Protecting people from a supposedly deadly virus that warrants the country being in lockdown?

Hardly trivial. Unless they knew all along it was much ado about nothing.

Even still, surely they should have been communicating that to their colleagues to attend to.

It's definitely not the job of those firearms officers to actively police what's going on in Downing Street and elsewhere in Whitehall.  Nobody would expect any of those officers to start searching the bevvy suitcases or to chap on the door of No10.  However there would be nothing to prevent them from passing on information to their superior officers.

A blind eye was turned.  Why should those officers put their own positions at risk for the sake of raising concerns?

Whatever way you cut it armed police dealing with lockdown party’s is completely trivial. Absolutely they should have passed the message on but I can imagine they were just as apathetic to the party’s as the rest of Downing Street as they primary focus was other matters.

I don't disagree, I'm not bothered in the slightest by the parties. It just seems odd that turning a blind eye to ignore supposedly really important rules being broken would be the approach.

Because they are police?

and that is their job?

and covid killed more people than terrorists ever have?

I do t know many cops who ignore law breaking ,

the cops knew people were breaking the law, and it’s not for them to ignore the law.

they do t decide on which laws to bother with and which are inconvenient- otherwise the law is meaningless

Wales to bin vaccine pass from the 18th, I hope Sturgeon continues it up here as my shimmy passing the stewards is nearing perfection.

I always enter with 10 mins to go and the stewards at that point are just wanting to check you have a working phone. I'm sure you could have pornography playing and they'd still wave you in.

no chance cup-tie neilson will lose out to a lowly side like livi - meat wagons can remain parked-up for the next wave

I was in meeting after meeting with the PM when he went row by row through what was and was not to be allowed. What does it say about us as a Party if what we write in law in minute detail is just for 'others' and by slight of hand we try and make that a 'trivial' thing?

There wasn't.

Just a sense of victimhood dressed up as "freedom".

I had a good laugh when the "freedom fighters" were saying how having to produce a QR code on their phones would be crazy cause people would be stuck in long queueus.

In the same week I went to the Eitihad - where every single punter has a full body check just like you'd get at airport security.

And guess what ?

No one complained and everyone was in their seats for kick off.

Absolutely mental !!

What is going on in this crazy world.

on this very thread posters salivating about how restricted the unvaccinated would become - all the things they wouldn’t be able to do / all the things they might have to pay for / all the medical treatment they should no longer get

the classic “Meat wagon” salivation was on another thread - a bit like a critically claimed production it managed to be extremely funny and extremely sad all in one

That's not how karma works mate.

If folk choose not to take the vaccine, sure fine. Especially if its an informed decision, less so if they were swept along by anti-science and Q-anon peddling nutters.

Those who tell others not to take the vaccine because they are political grifters/commentators and are pushing alt-right conspiracy crap or unproven, dangerous alternative treatments, I have less sympathy for them when they fall on their own sword which need never have been there to fall upon. Because they will undoubtedly have influenced stupid people to do similar and, using their following/influence, have caused harm to others.

I have nothing but disgust for those who are almost certainly vaccinated on the quiet but peddle bullshit to "keep their base". **** those guys.

The only schadenfreude in any of this is when the Peter Hitchins of this world eventually cop to being vaccinated and all their sheeple have a bitch fit when they realise they were being played like a cheap fiddle.

But none of this is karma, it's just people reaping the consequences of their choices.

It's often the case with these people, they preach this or that but often have little to no intention of doing what they preach, as long as the money keeps rolling in they'll keep on telling the gullible whatever they want to hear.
