Anyway back to covid related. Off to staff meal soon and night out.

 

Be interesting to see how many people Elsie has managed to scare the living daylight? Will the Friday before Xmas be busy or not ?That is the question. 

 

Oh and one final point its  a bunch of women I'm meeting.  Lucky them.   The other guys have bottled it.  Actually  In my experience of  women they have always been more resilient , caring , kind , nurturing and empathetic than some men Ive met. One even gave birth the me., The greatest gift anyone can give to another human.

Not necessarily, as there's only a small percentage who end up in hospital ('m unsure of the exact numbers), and even smaller amongst young people, which a few weeks ago made up the tiny number of omicron cases we had.

 

Not sure how that is looking now regarding the age makeup. But a small percentage of 10 cases will be near enough non existant, whereas we'll be looking at a small pecentage of tens of thousands in a couple of weeks. Hopefully that small percentage is considerably smaller than the percentage we saw being hospitalised for Delta (which looks likely to be the case, fingers crossed).

I have been a little surprised, like a number of other posters, the we haven't seen the Covid bed occupancy figures start to rise over the last few days.  

 

I've just had a look at the table of hospitaliations by health board and it looks as if the recent daily falls in the headline figures are due to relatively large falls in five health board areas.  Just from the figures reported this week (since Monday).

Forth Valley -20

Lanarkshire -18

Dumfries and Galloway -9

Fife -9

Highland -8

 

What those falls have done is to mask rises in three other Health Boards

Greater Glasgow +17

Lothian +8

Ayrshire +6

 

It may be that those areas that experienced the earliest community spread of Omicron are now starting to see a rise in hospitalisations.  The two largest boards GGHB and Lothian have also, proportionately, seen the largest increases in case numbers since the start of the month (more than double).

Thanks for posting, that would make a bit more sense. Although I am surprised Lanarkshire is not one of the rising areas.  

 

Look we can only wait and see how it transpires, I really am still desperately hoping that we don't see the hospital numbers shoot up too quickly over the next week.

I saw a Tweet last night about a Danish report on their Omicron cases saying that 99% of cases require no hospital treatment. Hopefully a much needed "positive" in the current scenarion.

Lanarkshire does appear to be a bit of an outlier as it is not too far behind GGHB and Lothian in terms of case numbers since the start of the month (comparison of like for like Mon-Fri figures 28/11-3/12 and 13/12-17/12).

Ayrshire up 61%

Lanarkshire up 85% 

GGHB up 103%

Lothian up 117%

 

The other health boards whose bed numbers fell have shown much smaller rises in case numbers.

Dumfries and Galloway up 2%

Fife up 27%

Highland up 37%

I was in on Monday getting my booster - I had booked in advance.

 

There seemed to be about 8 booths, and 5 were given to appointments and 3 to walk ups so in theory you would get through quicker if you had an appointment but perhaps not by a lot.

 

My arm is still a bit sore even today.

As Omicron rises and Delta falls then hospital numbers go down maybe? However there will be a tipping point reached eventually
