You believe that anti racism is a prejudice. I haven't heard that before.

You actually think that all Scottish Nationalists support racism, xenophobia and prejudice?

All of us?

Even those of us who have forrin spouses?

If so you're a balloon and you need to give your head a wobble as it is utter nonsense to suggest that it is even remotely true about SNP and indy supporters in Scotland.

Nope, trying to tar the Scottish independence movement as racist is displaying your prejudice.

Tell me, if you're so sensitive you react to things that aren't actually racist or xenophobic, how do you get through Millwall games?

All I want is for Scotland to take care of it's own interests, like every other nation in the world. There's no racism, xenophobia or hate there.

Yet you’ll(not just you) turn your back or even high five the resident xenophobic traitor hater when goes off on one. Sort of backs up part of what se16 3ln was saying.

No it doesn't.

I believe in independence for Scotland, nothing more nothing less.

You can try and hang all the prejudices you want on that (which ironically runs your own prejudice up the flagpole) but it's a very pure sentiment, based on one concept -

Scotland should be run by Scotland

I fully accept you want Scotland to be run by Scotland it’s I’ve never seen you call out independence supporters who cross that line. I think that was part of what he was saying.

Very true . It’s information never much discussed as maybe classed as too insensitive when in fact in has great relevance ( ages of those dying )

Could the nationalists of both sides please butt-heads on another thread about which particular version of nationalism is more/less bigoted/xenophobic etc.

This thread's for finding out about new variants and whether the sniffles are going to turn back into a show stopper to end our future.

Cheers 👍

That's not what I read from the advice that has been given out during the pandemic - there were specific symptoms provided to look out for, which has changed a bit as the variants started to dominate and produce different effect, for example it was stated not to look for a test just because you had a bit of a cough, it was stressed that having a "persistent cough for 24 hours" was a determinant on whether to call to seek a test.

There was also a Covid-19 guide produced specifically for parents:

What’s the estimated total % of people in the U.K. who have had Covid?

Getting slightly cheesed off with the vaccination stuff.  My son, aged 21 followed advice and applied online for his appointment.  App was acknowledged, then nothing.  This was just over two weeks ago.  He phoned last Friday to enquire and was told to phone back in a fortnight if he hadn't heard by then.  Also last Friday FM announced everyone in the 18-29 age group would have their letters by today.  Tried applying online again yesterday and the response was that it would be about 72 hours.  No appointment letter by today.  His pals have all had their first jags.

He's really keen to get his and every time I hear on TV or wherever about they'll all be first dosed by mid July, and just to book up if they haven't heard yet, I'm raging.

Figures may be low today due to reporting problem (see below).

Scottish numbers: 25 June 2021

Summary

  • 1,747 new cases of COVID-19 reported [-1,252; up from 950 a week ago]
  • 26,794 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results [-14,158]
    • 6.9% of these were positive [-0.8%]
  • 2 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive [-3]
  • 16 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19 [-1]
  • 188 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19 [+11]
  • 3,709,801 people have received the first dose of the Covid vaccination and 2,647,397 have received their second dose [+14,498; +15,864]

Public Health Scotland (PHS) are investigating a potential delay in laboratory processing of specimens in the Lighthouse labs, which resulted in specimen numbers being lower than might otherwise been expected by an estimated 800-1,110 cases based on historical reporting patterns.

Trying to find a figure, but nothing from after January coming up.

What’s the estimated total % of people in the U.K. who have had Covid?

The estimates are made from surveys of people to identify those who have antibodies. In January that would have given a good indication of the actual number of people who had been infected (12.5m?).

Now, with so many having been vaccinated, it is no longer possible to differentiate between those who have acquired antibodies by infection or vaccination or both.

However, the last ONS infection survey for England reported the proportion of adults with antibodies at 86.8% as at 10 June.  Scotland's figure was 79.1%.

Given that it takes around a couple of weeks for antibodies to form following a vaccination, comparable adult vaccination figures (1st dose) two weeks earlier (on 27 May) were 72.9% and 71.6%  respectively, then around 13.9% of England's adult population have had the virus in addition to those who have both had the virus and been vaccinated. The corresponding figure for Scotland would be 7.5%.
