There's a definite back slide on masking going on.  Lots more people coming in not bothering.  No doubt pleasing news to the one or two face libertarian nutjobs on here.

Excellent news.

What are those reasons?

I'm in a variety of cars all the time for work and never wear a mask. Is it only on the way to vaccination centres that there's a risk?

I get it if you're sharing a car (well I don't but appreciate the extended logic) but in a car by yourself? Not a chance.

If you use a car within 24 hours(IIRC) of someone else I think I read.

Don't get me wrong though, I don't really care, I just think that contempt for people who are quietly going about their day and making conservative decisions to be in the safe side is pretty shitty.

Ah okay, it's rarely within 24 hours of someone else using it that I'm then using the vehicle.

Agree on your second point, if folk want to wear masks in their cars then fair play to them, but it does baffle me a bit 😂

The wording is 'Please wear a face mask covering while travelling to and from and during your appointment.' It doesn't specify using what form of transport in this case car. Therefore if your form of transport is walking/jogging/cycling I don't think they mean wear a mask whilst walking/jogging/cycling.

It doesn't say to wear a mask whilst driving your own car so not sure why some rebels on here are getting their undergarments all soggy

South Korea to test mixing the vaccines, with 500 military personnel who were given the AstraZeneca one will be given a second dose using Pfizer and others. If successful will help the flow of second doses around the world as they don't need to be matched with the first.

According to a French study, dogs are 91% accurate at sniffing out covid and could be used to allow the return of large gatherings.

WHO say currently approved vaccines are still effective against the currently known variants. There is light at the end of the tunnel...

According to a vaccinator today,  Canada have been trialling the mixing and matching.

Efficacy is not reduced, just a higher chance of feeling crap for a few hours afterwards.

I'll take that. :) Good news if true because it would allow greater flexibility with the vaccination program.

3 more deaths reported yesterday throughout the UK. Bodies not exactly piling up. Well not from Covid anyway.

Some experts now saying the Indian variant may after all not be as transmissable as experts earlier said it might be.

If the India variant does prove to be less transmissible than previously suspected then that's really,  really good news.  Everyone will be pleased.  My hunch (informed guess really) was that it would be downgraded.  Not sure if I will be more pleased with myself compared to those who decided with more certainty that it would definitely be less transmissible.

Another observation (not an accusation for the hysterical) is that people often come in without a mask,  see that other masked people are queuing,  then they produce and wear a mask.

I'm much less bothered about the lack of masks now.  We can get the windows or doors open in the better weather (allegedly) plus we're all jabbed now.

As a collective.  In general.

It's the mark of the hysterical to make a mountain out of a molehill in terms of an inconsequential piece of language.

Maybe I should have said " drop off" or "reduction" or something similarly more benign,  if only to prevent you wailing about it.

Backslide = relapse into bad ways (OED). Somewhat pejorative and I think  justifies me saying it was an accusation. Which you wailed about!

I got a somewhat garbled call from someone about booking my Pfizer vaccination today but they didn't state/I couldn't hear who they were or who they were representing but the dates the offered were much sooner than I'd have expected and I'm not available.

When I asked if I needed to do anything to reschedule she said I just need to wait so none the wiser really.

Partly concerned it was some kind of scam but equally not sure in what way it would be a beneficial scam for anyone 😂

I'm already a human magnet Ray, my charm is simply irresistible to other humans.

Joking aside, they've not said they're down to my age group yet, I'm not aware of being able to book anything online yet and the line they were calling on was awful so I am a bit concerned as to who or why I was contacted and whether it was genuine or not.
