I've no idea what's happening in Australia but our shit show trumps yours by levels of magnitude.

No argument. The fact that hotel quarantine was set up a year too late in the UK still baffles me.

Not that many people will care. I see inflation has doubled in a month. This was always likely considering the economic measures taken in relation to COVID.

BofE are pushing the line that these aren’t really inflationary costs but more transitionary cost due to pent up demand, which aren’t being pushed on to consumer. The first point is up for debate the second is bollox.

Now whilst there is no doubting there is a element of pent of demand, that doesn’t explain the huge price rices we”re seeing in material costs such as timber. Prices doubling isn’t transitionary, that’s a underlying issue and possibly indicative of what we’re likely to see.

The problem with rising inflationary would be challenging, not only are govt trying to prevent standards of living dropping for people they have borrowers record amounts of money record low rates, that could well change if interest rates have to increase.

The govt probably really needs the economy to start kicking in, so it can start easing of a bit with the propping up. The big problem you really need, things like social distance to go as a minimum to start enabling the economy to take over.

Hopefully this Indian variant doesn’t delay thing returning to normal.

The serious impact on the economy was always going to save us from further lockdowns and restrictions . Shame that people ar me currently suffering due to this but once furlough ends in Sept that’ll be the end of lockdowns .

24 hrs since my second jab and still no Bruce Almighty God like powers and I'm not magnetic either.

Bill Gates out, Deep State out, Mad Budge out, Karen from Facebook out.

Seriously though, got a mildly tender shoulder/arm and that's it, not had any other reactions thus far, just goes to show everybody's different, some folks are ill whilst others are never up or down with the vaccine.

Which,  in itself,  is not foolproof.  Not every jabbed person will benefit from an immune response.  Albeit a minority of say 5% to 10%.

Might think it's funny but if you think international air travel isn't going to open up without some level of vaccine passport, then you're not really reading the room.

International air travel will open up vaccine passport or no vaccine passport because the demand will be there for it. When that happens is what will be impacted by the passports.

It's the same virus and it varies. The vaccine has dealt with all the variants. The ideological guff has been about "keeping people safe". Freedoms are paramount and without them, there is no point in "keeping people safe".

Brilliant. I live in Dunbar and they give me Gorebridge for my vaccine.

Try and change it online, nowhere is suitable, phone them up expecting to get in to Haddington but they've stopped even though i took the Mrs there on Monday.

No appointments showing in Musselburgh at all!

To be fair Leitch was wooly about the amber list as well.  Absolutely don't go for a holiday but if you have to visit family then it's ok... but be super careful.

How hard can it be to form a joint policy to exclude all non essential amber list travel and be clear about telling people?

Suggests for now anyway, Ingliston has both AZ and Pfeizer,Moderna.

40 and over to get AZ and 39 and under Pfeizer.  Pregnant women also recommended to get Pfeizer.  Not because AZ has concerns, just not same level of trials yet.

Wave three incoming.

Other than rushing a vaccine for one variant of covid-19, they have got every single thing wrong and cost hundreds of thousands of lives, needlessly, due to ideological guff about freedoms.

So we shouldn't have rushed out a vaccine until we were sure it covered all possible variants? In fact the three we rushed out seem to have been effective against all variants to date.

And freedoms are "idealogical guff"? During the Brexit debate we regularly saw remainers weeping because of the loss of their "freedom of movement" - also known as possibly needing to pay £7 for a visa (which it transpires they don't).

No sign of wave three yet but feel free to live in hope.

Wonderful.

Whenever such a time comes for a family to go abroad I take it kids are exempt from all testing etc? Vaccinated adults don't have to  do anything else but you might end up having to swab your kids. A lot of silence on this as it is incredibly stressful and scary for them.

I wonder if the Scottish data has also been 'adjusted'?

"Revision to historical case data in England. The introduction of a new system disrupted the removal of cases where a positive rapid lateral flow test (LFD) was followed by all negative laboratory (PCR) tests taken within 3 days. Therefore 4,776 additional cases have been removed today. Regions and local authorities do not show the actual number of new cases reported. UK and England numbers of newly reported cases have been adjusted and correctly reflect new.. "

But you're spot on, the infections are very much focussed in specific areas. The rest of the country is doing well.
