Cheers.

Jeremy Hunt who chairs the WM Health Committee reckons England need to get to 1000 cases per day to ease restrictions.  That was last achieved in August consistently.  Primarily to get test and trace sorted.

Do you have archive data for when Scotland peaked then got down to 100 per day in wave 1.

With vaccines this should be achieved quicker.

Not saying in anyway this will be policy but its good (or not) to know thinking.

I'm nerdy enough to keep the daily stats in a word file

So the answer is 17th May

I know this would come in handy 🙂

The two days figures  also give you an idea of how many in intensive care and hospital at that time too

test numbers: 16 May 2020

A total of 85,604 people in Scotland have been tested through NHS labs to date. Of these:

  • 71,157 were confirmed negative

  • 14,447 were positive

  • 2,094 patients who tested positive have died

Management information reported by NHS Boards shows:

  • 59 patients with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 were in intensive care last night, with 49 of those having tested positive

  • there were 1,011 people in Scottish hospitals with confirmed COVID-19 (including those in intensive care), and a further 405 where it was suspected

test numbers: 17 May 2020

A total of 87,660 people in Scotland have been tested through NHS labs to date. Of these:

  • 73,123 were confirmed negative

  • 14,537 were positive

  • 2,103 patients who tested positive have died

Management information reported by NHS Boards shows:

  • 59 patients with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 were in intensive care last night, with 46 of those having tested positive

  • there were 1,007 people in Scottish hospitals with confirmed COVID-19 (including those in intensive care), and a further 301 where it was suspected

It's what East Lothian was originally and also officially known as (the two terms were interchangeable for a long time), in the same way that West Lothian was also known as Linlithgowshire. That's a yes.

Importantly though Sadj, early studies of the Oxford vaccine show that it reduces onward transmission by up to 67%, which really is a game changer, if confirmed. Presumably those who do transmit it are only going to be transmitting low viral loads that would, in most cases, cause only mild symptoms in those infected.

That would be a game changer , not sure if it means the people who caught it would be less affected or the just the chance of them transmitting it will be lower. Fingers crossed its the presumption you make there. That was also one of my points.... Pfizer , Pfizer , Pfizer - millions to Pzifer buy lots of jabs... If people receive the Pfixer jab there is a good chance they will need the Oxford one in the near future. Financially that cannot be cheap for the country. The rush to say we got a vaccine on the go and into people first has been necessary by the shambles laid out by WM with regard to borders whereas we are seeing Australia waiting and presumably not therefor putting more pressure on their economy meantime. Just frustrating Enzo

Yup, stereotyping and generalising is not helpful. I haven’t visited my hometown for a year but no doubt it has Covidiots like every other town and village on the island. I’ve seen a few here. I would indeed lock them up, regardless of where they come from.

Signed, a born and bred (up to age 14)  Hamiltonian and Jambo of 35 years and counting. I still have loads of non immediate family in the area. My mum and dad are both from Blantyre, which makes Hamilton look like Morningside. They’re here too, nearly 80 and terrified of COVID but they got their 1st jabs a fortnight ago. They click and collect all their food.

I try not to respond to the Hamilton bashing I often see on here and it certainly won’t ever diminish my support for Hearts. Some of it’s warranted given the Council’s appalling mismanagement and neglect of the town centre (a Dump) but believe it or

not, it has some decent residential areas further out of town. Hearts attract support from outside the Edinburgh area with plenty dotted around the West, and many of those, like me with no family connections to the city.

lol , Hamilton wasnt stereotyping t’was only a cheeky dig at the regular poster from hamilton , the one who was queueing for cup tickets at tynie with dogs staring at him despite people in the queue not having a clue what he was on about and the fact they’ve been in the news this week for #jobbygate. Swindon though 😔 , suppose its ok if you avoid the Magic Roundabout 😝 @Dagger Is Back stop getting me in trouble 🤣

Yes and Glasgow. The areas where we had hotspots before have cleared up. I think a large part is due to the students going home.

It is indeed, TRM. Every time I want to mention that though I feel the need to touch wood (insert relevant Kenneth Williams emoji here), only because of what happened in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, for example, where they were doing amazingly well before the Portlethen food plant outbreak and the subsequent spread of the virus into care homes and the community (I don't know if any connection has officially been made between Portlethen and the subsequent outbreak but it looks like a smoking gun to me). All it takes is one superspreader event and an insufficient response by the authorities.

So, yes, doing incredibly well, but:

Not only does it go well with my eyes, but it machine washes at 40 degrees, so really easy to clean after I've been tramping about a bit in the mud, and it's all natural material too! :thumb:

Saw Danny Bakers Twitter post of his vaccine card.  Shows space for first and second dose, what vaccine he got and when.

My folks got nothing up here when they got theirs last week.

With all the talk of vaccine passports or airlines not allowing passengers unless vaccinated then you’d think Scotland would be doing similar?

*Took my auld granny to get her jab this afternoon. She may have survived this far into the pandemic, but I damn well near enough added her to the stats myself when she hibsed her attempt at buckling up her seat belt in the back of the car, leaving the belt a twisted, sorry mess that took me about 15 minutes to fix! Still, job (half) done.

My practice in Edinburgh is giving you both dates.

It would appear vaccination centres don’t.

There might be a legitimate reason for this.

Received my blue envelope his morning, with my appointment (65-69) at the RHC Ingliston, on 22 February.

I assume that there will be extensive parking available there, unless someone knows differently.

UK has done a blinding job with the vaccine tbf. Getting it out quickly and efficiently, and it seems with very high uptake which was always going to be the case but still great to see. I think there's still a fairly long way to go as at the end of the day we're in a state where we're 100% reliant on this to get back to any kind of normality, but hopefully the days of social distancing are over soon enough.

Got mine for the same venue on the 14th. Appointment during the evening. I'm assuming the same about parking. We keep being advised to stay off public transport if possible.

I've been to the Scottish Golf Show and Premier League Darts out there. Unless they decide to use a different set up, there is a vast amount of parking space available. 👍

Yea I’m sure there’s tonnes of parking at the royal highland centre.  I go running along Glasgow road and there’s plenty signposts for vaccine centre so should be easy enough.

More info from the NHS Lothian website.  Doens't look as if it will be too busy initially, with only 9 vaccination stations handling 1,000 a day. However a second phase will see capacity increase.

The newest mass vaccination centre, the third in Lothian, is in the Members' Pavilion which has nine vaccination stations available. It will be capable of vaccinating more than 1,000 people every day, seven days a week.

It will initially be staffed by vaccinators from NHS Lothian, before the British Armed Forces staff the centre for around two weeks. It will revert to the NHS vaccinators after more training and inductions are carried out to boost the ranks.

This is the first of two vaccination centres planned for the Royal Highland Centre. A second larger centre is expected to become operational in March.

Parking will be available around some venues and public transport operators are all following Scottish Government transport guidance for safe travel.

Please arrive on time for the allocated time on your appointment letter. Arriving too early can cause unnecessary queues.

When you arrive, make sure to wear a mask and bring your appointment letter with you to avoid any unnecessary delays.

My mum has just had her vaccination appointment.. She lives in Loanhead , and has to go to Craigmillar Medical Centre... She doesn’t drive , so it’s a bit of a trek for her.. Thought they were doing them at Bonnyrigg Community Hospital.

Utter madness, though I’m glad she is getting it.

On another note, my 90 yr old Gran still hasn’t had her appointment made.😡

Your Gran might be getting done by the community vaccinators which seems a bit longer to wait.

My mother 93 is being vaccinated by them on Monday. She was telephoned yesterday about it.

My elder brother just received his letter and the appointment was for Ingliston he went on line and changed his to the EEIC. I think he said you can also phone them up to change venues using the contact number on the letter.

My mates wife has been allocated Ingilston so phoned up trying for the EICC but was knocked back.

Told him to try online.

She is just wanting it done, so is going to Craigmillar.

It will have to be two buses rather than one if she was going from Loanhead to the community hospital.

Maybe things are changing. Understandable when it risks people not going.

We tried to change from Ingliston on Tuesday and couldn't do it either on phone or online. It's a 65-69 appointment.

But got a tip for a free taxi (donation) through Dial a Ride. Taking anyone not just with  disabilities to help get people vaccines.

Could always say all done, sorry all offered, hang on for 3 days to give another figure of 91%, 1 day later still find out being very ambiguous with that number, ok number is actually 80.3%

The number of people who required to be vaccinated in groups 1 and 2 by 5th February was 555,000. With a day's vaccinations still to be counted 742,000 people have been vaccinated, extended to over 70s etc., but includes more than 90% of the over 80s.

Do you view it as a failure to hit the target, if there is a percentage of over 80s who don't want the vaccine, or were unable to take up their appointments for any of a multitude of reasons but have been rescheduled, or perhaps have an appointment for a home vaccination in the next few days?

I view it as a huge success.
