Are they making a new film "Carry on Christmas"?

That is as hilarious as it is imbecilic.

Packed lunches all round. Tupperware sales through the roof.

😁. It will be different walking the streets this year with a turkey under our arm, listening out for house parties

Time will tell, by late January if looser restrictions over Christmas were worth it.

Loads of scientists/ medical experts criticising it. But totally understand giving people a break. Some of the stories in media show how isolated a lot of people have been.

Think lot of people would just ignore the rules at xmas to visit family and be pretty hard to enforce just can't see police arresting folks or turning them around mid journey for taking kids to see the Grandparents. But it is going to mirror the USA's Thanksgiving peek and taking us into Flu season could be terrible, many family visits will be the cause of death for thier loved ones with a vaccine roll out just starting seems pure crazy to risk it. Think the ruling parties are chickening out on this, should ban such travel but not enforce it.

I got papped aff the tory thread for eff all. It seems using a certain swear by using a different word is a red card offence. Why is the C word such a big no no everywhere. Personally I think its a great word. It hits the spot.

I love the C word. It can now be used as a term of endearment as well as an insult.  Not many words can .  I recall a great story i read about Helen Mirren.  She was making a film in America and went to the film stage for the first day of shooting and she exclaimed " Good morning C**** " as a term of endearment. However since its the good old USA where irony does not insist her greeting went down like a lead balloon. They must have been shocked that a " lady" who had played the Queen would come out with language like that  :)

Not so now in this second wave, 952 deaths announced yesterday and they have had 11 straight days where their death toll has exceded 400.

It would be a bit silly because you need the 2nd jab for it to be effective

Just a feeling, some people even after having it explained to them will either forget our decide they don't need the second jab. Also if any get some sort of symptoms that look like covid19 they will be even more apprehensive about getting the second one.

Every possibility I suppose.

My wife's pal who's a health worker has had her 1st covid jab already.

She always has a wee reaction like a sore arm after the Flu jab, but has had no reaction to this at all

They really shouldn’t have been allowed to come back, and shouldn’t be in the new year either. That’s their opinion anyway, and I agree.

Somewhere on this thread you could find me expressing my utter amazement at them being allowed back. Seems the craziest decision both then and now. Young people are generally happier to take risks. Introducing huge numbers of them to the city was extremely dangerous. As I said yesterday, I can only give an opinion on it, can’t back it with facts.

Yes its a great descriptive word. Think the worse time I ever heard it was in the " Sopranos" when one of the most likable characters got whacked and  the killer called her that word.  That shocked me more than the whacking.  I wont identify who it was in case anyone hasn't seen the best tv show ever.

Absolutely and the more the better it'll be for everyone.

I'm hearing that there is growing anger in the EU, especially in Germany that the EMA has not passed the Pfizer BioNtech vaccine yet, in fact they were due to hold a meeting NEXT week to look at the data, but under growing pressure they brought that meeting forward by 8 days and held it this week.

Euronews were saying that it could be next week before the EU approves it, but then there is a major hurdle, because there are next to no supplies available for the EU to roll out, as Britain, the US etc etc are getting almost all the supplies right now and it could be well into the New Year before the EU have any meaningful supplies of vaccine to distribute.

Sounds to me like the EU have missed the boat on this.

No probs, Willie. It's the nation-wide rate. So if you take the total number of new cases in the country reported today and work out the per-100,000 figure for that, then you come up with 13 (rounded to the nearest whole number).

689 new cases / 5,463,200 population of Scotland * 100,000 = 12.61

It can be thought of as the national average, if you like.
