That was an excellent drop in the number of Covid patients in hospital today, countered sadly by a significant increase in the death rate. Positivity rate still creeping up. Who knows where this is going? With Glasgow City near the bottom of the table, for example, it's a wee bit in Twilight Zone territory at the moment. I'll take where we are now thanks 👍 Of course. We're much better where we are compared to the lockdown times. But that was pre-vaccine when the figures were naturally higher because there was much less protection. Usage of face coverings now, in a time of much higher protection, isn't really comparable to lockdown. It's quite reasonable to compare between countries of similar vaccine coverage and perhaps dissimilar use of face coverings in key settings. It doesn't prove anything but it's a reasonable point to consider.

England was the first to drop all of those things and the accusation is England is failing...then a UK graph is used to show this. "The hospital admission rate of COVID-19-confirmed patients in England increased slightly to 6.03 per 100,000 people in the week ending 10 October 2021." The chart shared suggests the UK rate is higher than 6 per 100,000. So either the chart is misleading, or one (or more) of the other UK nations is dragging it up...wouldn't be the one where there is still restrictions would it? I don't disagree, but that's how the claim was structured...'drop this, that and the other restriction and then looks what happens' when actually the graph shows the opposite. You're absolutely right though that's massively down to the vaccine, and that's terrific news. I'm also not opposed to comparing those countries but the restrictions at a UK level have not been consistent in their timings of removal, indeed some still persist in existence. The post sought to bat England over the head for being the first to do x,y and z...then uses UK data to prove it.

Actually a 17 minutes ago, Taffin said: It's also disingenuous. Well it’ll come As no surprise but I’m hoping at interpreting those charts / data but I’m sure someone may answer your query. All I do Know is there isn’t a significant difference in rates between Scotland and England despite mask wearing and the partial use of vaccine passports

I'm just getting a bee in my faux Englishman bunnet 😂😂 England is doing okay just now with it imo given there's almost no restrictions. By design? I doubt it. By sheer luck? That's what I'd bet on! Maybe a mixture of both . All I know is I feel much more happier / less anxious coming into this winter than last winter . 👍👍

jambos are go!
It appears that the death rate in Scotland is around double the UK death rate and has been for some time. It would seem that the Scottish Government is not being challenged in this. Why?

The UK death rate just now doesn't seem as high when you look at date of death rather than date reported. They could be reporting deaths that happened months ago
