I have been thinking about one of these as I certainly miss the sun light. Ive always been. Tad cynical of the principal.

I have had a quick look on line and do you just sit with on next to you? When you say it perks you up, does it stop you missing sunshine or reduce the urge to murder for people being stupid?

Think I’m going to get one but not sure if it’s placebo effect tbh.

I fecking hate the climate of Scotland, particularly the fecking short days, long nights constant rain stage. So anything is worth a try.

My desk's looking out the window, I have it under my monitors, on for as long as I feel it's needed. Could be 10 minutes or a couple of hours.

It feels like it activates me a bit, just gets stuff moving. I don't know, maybe it is a placebo, but if I feel like it's positive then job done. I'm not arsed if I'm being fooled into feeling better, that'll do.

The climate was the one thing that always made me say I'd never come back to Scotland. I was talking shit of course.

Its a light to treat seasonal affective disorder. It works on the principal that is produces full spectrum light, which mimics daylight and provides the benefits that daylight provides to people.

We're talking 1 in 9 people (official cases) so far in Scotland and the worst is over.

I hope you are right Red.
I’m just back from Tenerife where for the island there are about 24 new cases a day. There vaccine take up is very impressive and they stuck pretty much to the rules. Penalty’s were harsh though but it seems to have paid dividends.
The weather helps no end as you can do most activities outdoors.

This is where the risk is here, as the weather starts to turn for the worse in Scotland forcing more people indoors to meet up.

I’ve heard the SG talking about ventilation and helping businesses etc get it sorted I hope they have progressed from the talking stage and got designs on the drawing board or even further the installation stage.

I know, it's pathetic.  What are the chances of catching flu AND Covid.😂 You'd have to go out your way to even catch one of them.

According to reports yesterday,  a source close to Johnson said they feel "bullish" about Covid. "It's stable and will remain so for the next few months"....." we don't think Plan B will be needed. The modelling is crap..."

Interesting qoute below:

'Some vulnerable people who died in the first wave would otherwise only have survived a short period longer. This “mortality displacement” often shows when a cluster of deaths due to extreme heat or cold is followed by a dip in mortality rates. At the start of the first wave, one of us (DS) was quoted as saying, “many people who die of Covid would have died anyway within a short period”, while others estimated that this proportion could be more than half. We were proved wrong by the limited deficit in deaths over the following year. It’s been estimated, on average, that about 10 years of life are lost from Covid-19 deaths in the UK, and 16 years globally.'

Good to see people admit when they are wrong. It is what science is all about.

Interesting and would make the average Covid death age around 71(?). Whom is it a quote from?

Anyone else unearthed any discrepancies with their medical records and their CHI number in particular?  I obtained my CHI number from my GP a number of months ago.  I hadn't noticed but a different number appears on the covid vaccine letters we got.  I recently downloaded the vaccine passport and matched my records with the number I obtained from my GP.  Went for my flu jab the other day,  quoted that number and was told it was not valid.  The right one is the one I see on the covid vaccine letter.  Called the GP today and they don't recognise the number they gave me months ago.  Yet it matched my records in the passport app.

Some chat about the Russian Sputnik-V vaccine being a rip-off of the AZ.  Supposedly hacked and used to make theirs.  The wee scamps.

As long as it works, don't suppose it matters. Funny how those countries using it haven't seen same level of complaints that AZ has suffered from.

Almost as if AZ was criticised for political and commercial reasons, instead of medical ones.

Some chat about the Russian Sputnik-V vaccine being a rip-off of the AZ.  Supposedly hacked and used to make theirs.  The wee scamps.

It looks like it's not working, they are hitting record death tolls at nearly 1,000 a day.

They've maybe been had with their 'information' :biggrin2:

Anyone else unearthed any discrepancies with their medical records and their CHI number in particular?  I obtained my CHI number from my GP a number of months ago.  I hadn't noticed but a different number appears on the covid vaccine letters we got.  I recently downloaded the vaccine passport and matched my records with the number I obtained from my GP.  Went for my flu jab the other day,  quoted that number and was told it was not valid.  The right one is the one I see on the covid vaccine letter.  Called the GP today and they don't recognise the number they gave me months ago.  Yet it matched my records in the passport app.

Very odd. Have you nabbed someone with the same name's flu/covid jab?

I still have not been able to register on the NHS app.  After enquiries I found that the surgery had my postcode wrong.  They have now corrected it but still no joy.  Odd thing is, my vaccination invites came with the correct postcode on them.  I try every day but so far without success.

Apparently and according to the GP surgery bod,  it has been known for additional / duplicate records to be created,  for whatever reason.  It all sounded to me like the overall NHS I.T. / database structure is a bit chaotic or perhaps could be more robust.  It will be brought to the attention of the data manager and any duplicate records merged together.

As far as the vaccine passport app is concerned,  it must have picked up the 'invalid' number because it automatically brought up my details.  It must have accessed one part of the patchwork that did recognise it,  whereas the pharmacy and GP did not.

Chaotic is probably fair but these processes, systems etc were implemented in a very short space of time for such a scale. With such an enormous infrastructure to put in place elsewhere at the same time, track and trace, quarantine etc, I think the public bodies involved have done a great job.

When you think about the logistics of receiving, processing, storing, distributing, storing again and finally administering millions of doses of vaccines to the right people in the right order, it's kind of amazing really.

Still frustrating if it's your record that's off of course
