Which UK rules affect you enough that you bemoan them?

Can't be the Barnett formula windfall that gives YOU an extra £2k+ per annum public spending?

Or the billions that were poured into the furlough scheme?

It wasn't the world leading vaccine scheme was it?

Could it be the millions UK gov want to spend on upgrading Scotland's main arterial road links?

Maybe we'll take our £65b ((11000+ per head) we spend on their products and take it elsewhere. How 5.4m spend that on their stuff and they 62 m only spend £50b(£900ish per head) on ours, is the biggest con job going. And how's that oil helping out getting those loans to spend on vaccines and furlough.

At the end of the day, if Scotland is so fecking much of a burden, let her go. We'll just take the oil, gas renewables, territorial waters and all that lovely drinking water, along with everything else we have and use it to benefit our people. And the UK can do the same. 👍 Simple. You can vote in Boris or Keir and we'll vote and remove who we vote for.

Anyway, aw naw, we need to wear a mask in a shop. :yadayada: Fecking SNP! Maybe they/she should've just shook hands with covid patients and caught it, nearly died but for the NHS, then give them a pay cut and feck business and let the bodies pile up.  Lead by example 👍

Careful what you wish for...the Shetlands might take their territorial waters back too when they go Indy from Scotland.

Got any buyers lined up for the 67% of our exports after freeedumb day??

I agree. UK governments squandered it by handing it to the private sector.

Oh, you can't buy every item you want, when you want?? Perhaps we've all being spoilt for too long.

What a shame. Oh well.

Still, this global problem will resolve itself,  I'm sure.

Wonder how you would have coped with the blackouts of the 70s that I remember all too well.

We sometimes seem to get jumps in the hospital numbers like that on a Monday, FtS. It might even be down to something simple (given that the figures essentially represent the state of the day before) that they don't want to release folk back home on a Sunday, waiting until the Monday to do so. The numbers of hospitalised Covid patients are still doing better than a week ago.

Oh it is one of my pet hates ! Everyone wanting everything yesterday ! Why can’t people wait ? Like yesterday I was going to order a lap top online , I can get it next day but it’ll cost £10 or wait a few days it’ll cost me nothing for the delivery . It’s not about the money  it’s just the principle . I can wait

Valneva has announced phase 3 vaccine trial results that are better than those of AZ. This is the vaccine that the UK government has cancelled an order for 100m doses, alleging breach of contract.

Sajid Javid previously stated that the vaccine would not have been approved for use in the UK anyway.

This was the vaccine that was due to be manufactured in Livingston.  Something doesn't chime right on the decisions that are being made.

Maybe it's just that there is no need for them anymore and the UK government used a get out clause rather than be left with 100m doses?

There will be enough vaccines in the UK to vaccinate everyone who wants one

Nope, he was definitely highlighting that we shouldn't complain about completely avoidable things going wrong now because things were crap for a bit 50 years ago.

That’s your understanding  / perspective of it

No, I was highlighting the selfish, entitled, "i want everything now" culture. The inability to accept any delays, hurdles or obstacles to "what I want", as James pointed out to you

And of course, the burning desire to blame everything on the Toooaaries.

👍

Why did you bring up 50 years ago then? Young ones back then must have been a right shower of ungrateful morons, some of them are still gurning about it on the Internet half a century later ffs.

Didn't realise there was a time limit on historic references on the Board? How far back you allowed to go?

At any rate, I certainly wasn’t girning.  I was laughing, imagining how the young ones would have coped back then🤣 Character building, those days.

...the Shetlands...

If one must use the definite article, then The Shetland Islands or Isles would be acceptable. Normal usage is simply Shetland.

Shetlands are small, grumpy equine creatures dangerous at both ends.

Correct, James.👍. Which is why we have so many folk getting into debt because things that we previously saved for are currently bought Now Now Now.

This is complete sanctimonious  horseshit  - it was  a symptom of the Thatcher  era of nearly 40 years ago,  the era of easy credit. An era long since gone.

"we previously saved"...   what planet are you on, seriously  ?

Thatcher still getting blamed...31 years after she left office

🤣🤣🤣

How about Blair for relaxing the gambling laws and introducing the ridiculous 24hr licensing laws?

I was brought up, as were most families, to buy things when you could afford them.

Cheap, easy credit isn't compulsory you know. Neither is gorging on chocolate because it happens to be placed next to supermarket tills.

The onus is on individuals to take responsibility, exercise some willpower and make the right decision.

Didn't realise that Boof but thanks for pointing it out.👍

I certainly don't want to offend the natives!

Slightly tongue-in-cheek but always happy to educate.

It does have that fingernails-on-blackboard effect on many, many islanders.

Same goes for Orkney/Orkneys.

Haven't actually ever asked and Falkland or Scilly Islanders for their thoughts.

Maybe it's just that there is no need for them anymore and the UK government used a get out clause rather than be left with 100m doses?

There will be enough vaccines in the UK to vaccinate everyone who wants one

Couldn't the government just divert them to the Covax world programme?
The third/underdeveloped world is where the big danger of mutations lies, eg, India/Delta strain.

I agree.

The number of people who lost their shit about being asked to do really small things like wear a mask in certain environments to protect others.

Wouldn't have happened 50 years ago likes.

Some economic forecasts are indicating that low income households will be facing increased cost of living spending of around £1,000.  This in addition to NIC contributions going up and UC uplift being removed.  They wont have to bother about the odd empty supermarket shelf because they'll have no money to spend in the supermarket.  Hope they don't moan about it though.  There was inflation in the 1970s and people shouldn't expect to eat now now now.  They should save up for a scran.

What's classed as low income and why aren't the costs being faced by those not on a low income?

I'd assumed I wasn't low income but maybe I am, as looking at fuel costs (both diesel and gas) and other increases I'm certainly facing an increase in costs of about £1000 without some mitigation on my part

I've yet to decide whether to moan about it, I probably will though 😂

I think that the point being made is that the increased costs impact to a greater extent on those on low incomes. e.g. an increase in costs of £1,000 on someone earning £20k a year is much harder to to manage than the same increase for someone on £40k a year.
