It won't be a big market, very local.

£100 might be down playing it a bit but a thousand or so would definitely have a big impact.

Hardly national or a world wide market, very local amongst Hearts fans and that community.

Ann put £40K on it last night - cover the compo to Barnsley.

Noted.

However, the punter that's putting this £1000 bet on would probably know something.

I've always thought that guys that go big on these markets are the taxi drivers that pick the managers up from the airport and take them direct to the stadium… could make a fortune.

Granted, but putting DS down to 1/2, in turn pushes Austin up to 10/1 on SkyBet… if Sky don't have a clue then they won't be putting Danny down to that short an odds.

Folk putting bets on will change the odds

This thread reminds me of the Only an Excuse sketch where they had various wannabe chairmen playing musical chairs for the Rangers gig 🤭

Aye, no one knows the exact values.

In a market of £10 and £20 bets, a £100 bet stands out, £500 more. Etc.

In the betting market for the hearts manager it's probably about £100.

Half of it's mine then, if that's the case.

Stendel in in the wind?

If I was a Hibee, but then again no
They're like men making potions in a travelling show
Oh I know it's not much but it's the best I can do
My gift is my song
And this one's for you

And you can tell everyone, this is my song
This is my story, and it's not yet done
I hope you don't mind
I hope you don't mind
That I put down in words
How wonderful life is, with Hearts in my world

I've been trying to think of new lyrics to 'Mr Wendal' by Arrested Development - Mr Stendel 😀

Funnily enough, that's the tune going around in my head too!

On a plus side, when Hibs had just sacked Feckinbottom, they too were very interested in getting Stendel in charge, and seem a bit non plussed about Ross being there now, but quite a few of them stated that they hoped Stendel didn't come to Hearts.

"Gruppenführer Stendel"

mmm....has a ring to it. Could do a job.

Am I doing this right?

You just know if we don't get him it'll become JKB legend that Stendal would've won us the league if mad budgie hadn't messed up the negotiations

If he's a Nazi...then yes.

Otherwise...no.

Edit: I should add, yeah it's acceptable nowadays, as the connotation is different. 🙂

I wonder if we'll be allowed some light hearted, war themed, casual racism seeing as Herr Stendel is a white European.

I know a few of us were on the wrong end of a Kickback gestapo finger wagging for some pretty tame (and satirical) suff on the first Meschino thread.

Not easy, it's a song that doesn't scan well to begin with because of Tod Thomas' rapping style...

Mr. Stendel now has freedom

A free that you and I hope means he'll come
Free to be without the worries of a shit-tip like Barnsley
Mr. Stendel's a Hun
His only worries were Barnsley
And an occasional harassment by the board on his case
Uncivilized we call them
But at least they appoint managers with haste
Civilization, is Barnsley civilised, yes or no
Give him the call Mrs. Budge

This evening, I emailed a member of the board who I know if this was true. He told me the Hearts manager will have previous experience of the Scottish game and to expect an announcement next week. Stendel is still being paid by Barnsley and the compensation would be "excessive" - he was never in consideration. MacPhee will be charge against Killie. Apparently, only a handful of people are involved in the hiring process and therefore not to expect any leaks - the newspaper haven't a clue whats going on. One thing he did confirm is that Robinson will not be approached. We aren't prepared to pay the compensation. Budge doesn't feel he's achieved enough to warrant a fee to be paid for his services.

Get ready for Neil McCann.....

The Apprentice

By all accounts Stendel had quite a young squad at Barnsley and a few then moved on for decent money.  This is surely something we are looking for moving forward.

I stood in the Shed and watched all the dross

Well a few of these players they made me quite cross

But the sun’s been quite kind when we sung our songs

It’s for people like us that they’re still going strong.....

Goodbye Craig Levein
Though I never knew you at all
You had the arrogance to hold yourself
While those around you crawled

They crawled out of the woodwork
And they answered to their name
But then they all got injured
And they made you change your game

And it seems to me you came from Fife
to wait on Strendel in the wings
Never knowing who to play up front
When the pain set in
And I would have liked to have known you
But I was on a bus
Then Strendel was appointed long before
You relegated us

Aye, like that.

And a liberal deployment of a German vocabulary gleaned exclusively from old war films and Commando comics.

Should be fine as long as it doesn't reference any factual literary quirks of language and translation.
