Has anyone seen anyone interesting in or around Riccarton or Tynie today?

Would have thought Whelan at least would have been spotted if he's that close to signing.

In two minds about this - we're taking a leap in the dark I think

Hopefully we'll land on our feet with this transfer

I'm 70 with a very vivid imagination.  Should have seen me bursting the net with that header Haring missed in the Cup Final.

Whelan is just a kid to me.

I think you have to know who Eddie the Eagle was to understand that humour - otherwise Whooosh! it will go over your head

been saying for ages we need a player in the middle of the park that can get games by the scruff of the neck when everyone else seems to be playing poorly - that alone can bring everyone else back into the game.

Helps to be a tough fecker and someone that will kick his own team up the erse - could this be our guy?

If this comes off we could have 3 captain material players on the pitch at once (Berra,Naismith and Whelan)

Some members of the LA Philharmonic have been at Tynie - one or two of them over 35, so probably past it.

Whelan

Thanks.    Hope you're right.

I have not followed his career too closely but if he plays as described by some posters, he could be a definite asset

He was a star in the 1987/88 season as I recall. Happy times. Went downhill near the end though.

Eddie the Eagle was a famous(?) skier of sorts.

Downhill, slippy slope, snow etc.

Does that help?

Glen Whelan would be quality. I’d love it if we signed him and Morrison too. It would take the whole team to a different level.

That would make an enormous difference to the entire team. One is going to help some what both would be excellent. Hope they push the boat out, clear some further dead wood if necessary.

Does anyone remember a 35 year old Jim Bett signing for us away back in the day?

By SPL standards Glenn Whelan is absolute top quality and his appearance figures show that his legs are still fully functioning which is hardly surprising as he's barely had an injury in his professional career.

I do. Classy as **** still

Worst ski jumper to take part in the winter Olympics, practiced in his back garden with something he'd rigged up from an old washing machine and cross trainer or some such. Was a huge cult figure in the 80s and now the star of a film (played by taron egerton of kinsman fame)

(and of Elton John in Rocket Man fame)

The film Eddie The Eagle (2015) contained this famous Cup Final reference shot:

In the recent Eddie The Eagle movie there was Hearts content. I believe the director of the movie is a Jambo.

Edit: Hackney Hearts beat me to it I see

I don't know much about him to be frank, but every time I watched Villa the commentators were regularly w****g over him.

501 appearances in the top 2 tiers in England and over 80 caps for Ireland, do tell me this is a player who has been doing the right things

Played nearly every game for a team promoted from the Championship last year but "underwhelming". I know it's all about opinions but this place is mental
