Players are more than good enough to handle three matches versus lower league teams, or they should be. Smith/Souttar/Irving/Halkett could all play a holding role. Time for players to take a bit of responsibility here and step up and seize the opportunity. If if a player becomes available before the start of the league season we’ll move for them. Levein also isn’t going to be at a press conference showing he’s desperate for players either, has to play it cool for the benefit of managing the existing players and in terms of other clubs not hiking prices. It was a genuine fact that we had to pay out £100k and AB obviously felt that the spend was warranted and I have no gripe with that whatsoever. Debut 4 had said can we afford another player which was what I was responding to and that is why I mentioned the fact we had spent the £100k. It may well have an impact on funds we have available for players I don't know but then the playing budget could be "ringfenced" and it has no consequence on it. I think you are just trying to look for negatives in every post I make whether it's there or not. What do you mean by me "trying to cover myself" that's absolute nonsense. If my posts are deemed inappropriate then there are plenty Mods on here who can make their minds up and take any action if they think it necessary but I canassure you I was not making any attempt to criticise here. FFS you you sound like Levein! Fitting square pegs into round holes because we don’t have the squad you should have by the time the season starts. Halkett is just in the door and you want to move him out his favoured position!!! We are certainly nowhere near good enough to be taking any team lightly regardless of what division they are in and I want to see the strongest possible team played in every game not trying out players in different positions or seeing if the young boys are up for it.
