Some folk are painfully shy, some are utterly awkward, and some are just plain shite at even the most basic communication (as many of the contributions to this thread so vividly illustrate).

I'd be willing to cut the guy a wee bit of slack without feeling the need to villify the lassie for coming across as a bit of a tit too.

I agree with what you say, totally.

However, I think the best and easiest solution would be to work on the inadequacies in yourself rather than pass creepy notes to absolute strangers.

The female is absolutely and entirely innocent but there are those, even just on here, would rather blame her response rather than the gentleman's actions. They weren't innocent or awkward. It was just creepy.

''Wait 10 minutes until you open this''?

Creepy has become a really overused word.

Not in this case.

The woman said that's what it felt like, ''creepy''. If she felt creeped out, then it's entirely appropriate.

Do you think if David Beckham or Ryan Reynolds slipped her that note she would have made this video?

Yes or No?

One of many words that the left have devalued.

She is innocent, as is the guy. There is no guilt here.

On the one hand, you might have a point.  Maybe the fair thing is to say that his approach should have been different, but to reserve judgement on anything further on the basis that we don't know him.

Maybe.

But on the other hand, he's not getting half as raw a deal as she is.  He really isn't.

Not changed my tune. My whole point is the scene on train was innocent. She has acted like a delicate little flower after the fact.

She's innocent, by your own admission, but you maintain she's a snowflake?

You're genuinely a mess of a human being.

Do we really need to go back through the thread to highlight the things you've called this ''innocent'' woman?

Is it any different to what people read every day in The Metro? Apologies if already posted but anyone can fill their boots by clicking the below link; and as far as I am aware, no one, male or female, has been reported for 'inappropriate behaviour'.

Really?

I honestly don't believe that there is a great deal of difference between the two. To be honest, someone using the official Metro 'Rush Hour Crush' outlet to convey affection with vocabulary like 'hot girl in maroon skirt on 22 to the gyle; drink sometime?' sounds a heck of a lot more creepy than some guy leaving a note requesting a girl to smile once in a while.

Thanks.

Calling me that when it's you that gets upset, offended, confused, outraged and generally cannot understand  everyday life is hilarious.

Oh, and since I served in the 1st Gulf conflict and the war in the Adriatic, I'm an actual warrior by definition. I'm delighted my keyboard exploits are also being recognized.

To be factually correct she said "count to ten before you open", which is considerably different.

Do those calling him a creep consider that he might be painfully shy, and/or physically unable to speak, and did not want to be there when she opened it, in case of a negative reaction, which is obviously what he got.

It's ok if his social inadequacies bother someone else directly by his behavior?

Or is that her fault?

Count to 10, sorry. My apologies.

No blame on either side imo

She has the right to feel offended.

Explain how he makes contact if he cant speak?? Or are we discriminating against the disabled now? Or is that just classed as a social inadequacy?

She's put herself and her gripe into the public domain and people are going to judge her, rightly or wrongly.

If she thought for a second that her blog or whatever it was wouldn't be divisive or put her in for a bit of stick from certain quarters then she's as naive or stupid as the chap who left her the note.

Unable to speak as in being mute, I suppose yes?

Unable to speak through shyness... no, not at all.

Ask the woman...

Also, if you want to get into hypotheticals, let's say the woman has been the victim of stalking or had an abusive ex-partner, does she have the right to be creeped out?

Not doubting your story but I have never met someone who has served in the Armed forces refer to themselves as warriors. They are usually far more humble than that.

Of course it may be if it is a function of mental or psychological disability or depression or other mental illness.

For men or women equally.

The victim in this case seems free of that at least.
