That's Tweedmuir House, Niddrie House Drive. There was another block, maybe Whauchope House. They were demolished in 1991.

The two blocks were Tweedsmuir and Teviotbank Houses.

Ah, my old playground - although the Chemistry / PE block had replaced the sheds by the time I was there

It's George Heriot's .  I looked at it on Google maps, but was a bit confused as the building at the back on it seemed to have 2 stories. Then I noticed that the bottom storey windows are actually below ground level, so you couldn't see them in the posted image.

It looks unfamiliar to Lochend, there's no tenements like that up there accept across from and beside the 'bunch o roses'. Is that not the bus going around where the banana flats in Leith are now, along cables wynd ? That wall at the back looks familiar.

Just trying to think about where only the 21 and 34 served a bus stop.

I can only remember back to the 70's when the 34 went from Sighthill to Lochend

and the 21 went from Broomhouse to Greendykes and those routes don't tie up.

Second guess. Is that not at the back of Leith Links beside the tennis courts, and where that Newsagent is goes down to the Bowlers Rest on Mitchell Street.

The 34 could have went down Lochend Road, around Leith Links, past the old Leith Academy, then along Junction Street on to Leith Walk.

Good phot

Can't remember JM being there

It was a wee triangular shaped shop , entrance is where the private dining for Kyloe is now

He’ll need to confirm it but I think that’s LuckyBatistuta walking back to his cab .

Strangely the very start of Rutland st wasn’t one way in those days so the cabs could drive out onto Lothian road
