A sight many of my lot would recognize, living across the street at Bakehouse Close and just out of shot at Dunbars Close.

Is there a date for this photo?

The clothes look to be Victorian, which is the right time frame as some of my lot were still living at Dunbars Close.

What kind of life.........hard.

👍

Lost count of how many buildings in this city have been replaced with bland eyesores. We think we live in a beautiful city, but it was really our ancestors who lived in the beautiful city architecturally speaking. Only going to get worse as each year goes by too.

Is it just me or do the main streets look wider back in yesteryear.

Maybe it's just an optical illusion because there is so little traffic on the roads and that's what makes them look wider.

Thats the sight you would see early Sunday morning, down the Pleasance from the box at Simon Square, up Drummond Street, on to Nicolson Street and just after the Surgeons building there it was, just you and pleasant thoughts in the tranquility.

I can remember when they were building that library building in the early 80s, but not what was there before. Do you know if there was much of a gap between demolition the building?

St Patrick Square, my guess would be before 1933 as there is no police box there, they started I believe 1933ish.The corner on the far left also seems different I seem to recall there was a shop there unless I am just not seeing the windows.

Any reason other than it was hideous and after recently throwing more money at it, still remains hideous.

Honest to god, the more pictures I look at, the more annoyed I get. I hope I’m not just becoming a grumpy old sod, now I’m in my 50’s. The beautiful buildings we have torn down in this city and replaced with bland eyesores is an absolute disgrace.

Where have all the people gone. Such a bustling city centre. Population keeps going up, yet it gets quieter.

People don’t need to go into town for clothes shopping and the likes, online or out of town retail parks have seen to that.
