Wasn't there a Hearts director who was also a direct of LAS ? Round about 1980 I think ? Edit - I may be thinking of Jim Souness actually. Interesting to see a Rankin's fruit shop there. I read an article recently about the founder of Rankin's - he'd seen how popular fresh fruit was in parts of the US, and the number of fruit shops that had sprung up in towns & cities. So he decided to give it a go in Edinburgh. I can still remember the buzz and smell of fresh fruit & flowers going in to Rankins at the West End with my Mum in the 60s (where Ryans Bar is now).
