The kid sounded like a good young man. Umpire in his friends baseball league, was in the final stages of recruitment into the army. His dad said his last words to the boy when he was going out was don't drink and drive and I love you. He is gone no army, no baseball,no more I love yous, won't be there for his sisters impending visit. For many years I wondered how people handled losing a child, I unfortunately found out, no matter how old they are , what they do, they are still just your child, I admit when I listened to that poor broken hearted father, I had to wipe a tear from my eye, he is in for hell. peter_hmfc
The gunman said before/during the attack: "It's too bad I won't get to see all the illogical and pathetic reasons people will put in my mouth as to why I did it," he wrote at 11:24 p.m., according to documents obtained by ABC News. "Fact is I had no reason to do it, and I just thought... life is boring so why not?" "Yeah... I'm insane, but the only thing you people do after these shootings is 'hopes and prayers' ... or 'keep you in my thoughts' ... every time... and wonder why these keep happening." So in other words, no real motivation, he just got bored and thought screw it... now 12 people are dead. Also (entirely unrelated to the Borderline Bar shooting but still relevant to the OP), in Tennessee: "A Tennessee man was arrested Wednesday after he flew into a rage over an Xbox video game and fired over a dozen rounds from two different handguns into his bedroom ceiling and walls, a report said." peter_hmfc
Whoopsy-doodle. Unlucky Trump et al. Gunman opens fire inside an Illinois bar leaving 4 injured, as an armed security guard attempts to resolve the situation. Responding police officers turn up and fatally shoot the armed guard thinking he's the gunman. "A 26-year-old bouncer at a Robbins night club was fatally shot by a Midlothian police officer early Sunday, authorities said.Midlothian police said one of their officers -- who was called to assist Robbins police -- fatally shot bouncer Jemel Roberson after entering the bar and seeing him holding a gun. Midlothian police Chief Dan Delaney said: "Upon arrival officers learned there were several gunshot victims inside the bar. A Midlothian Officer encountered a subject with a gun and was involved in an Officer involved shooting. The subject the Officer shot was later pronounced deceased at an area hospital" Roberson was an organist at New Spiritual Light Baptist Church in Chicago. "How in the world does the security guard get shot by police?" asked the church's pastor, Walter Turner. "A young man that was literally doing his job and now he's gone." Too many people with guns, whatever their need to have them, just increases the chance of tragic mistakes. As has happened to the young security guard. Easy solution for the US authorities: ban the laying off of people. Or build walls around places of employment. I can't figure out which would be more effective. Hey, fancy getting together and setting up a consultancy/lobbying firm in the US? We've both got some great ideas and I think they would be very popular over there. Actually, thinking more about it, it might be safer to place any laid-off employees in prison so that they can cool off for a while and get rid of any murderous revenge-type thoughts. Oh, and while we're at it, films like Falling Down (and probably any revenge movies for that matter) should definitely be banned in the US - they're giving people bad ideas. Ah, being pro-gun must be so much fun. You get to use your imagination in so many interesting creative ways.
Sharpie
Five policemen wounded when they went in almost immediately. The Illinois Governor, the Mayor of the City, commend the bravery of the police who answered the call went where the bullets were flying and done their duty. Coincedentally couple of days after the first anniversary of the Parkland School shootings. Hearings are in progress regarding police actions there, the Sheriff has been suspended as a result of his departments poor follow ups about c omplaints regarding the shooter, and the Deputy who failed to do his duty is refusing to attend the hearings, and is being sued for neglect of duty by one of the parents. His lawyer does say that his cowardice is not the subject of the law suit the failure to do his duty is. I find it interesting the word coward is used quite liberally in stories when referring to him. Even President Trump called him directly a coward, and he should know one if he sees one. Don Dan
A shooting at a Texas shopping mall has ended in "multiple fatalities", local officials say. The shooting happened at Cielo Vista Mall in El Paso, just a few miles from the US-Mexico border. At least 22 people have arrived at local hospitals for treatment for their injuries. One person is in custody, and police did not believe there were multiple gunmen, a spokesperson said, but was unable to provide casualty figures. "We don't want to do anything prematurely until we have accurate facts for you," Sergeant Robert Gomez said, declining to provide details on the injured. First reports of a shooting emerged at around 11:00 local time (18:00 GMT). There were reports of gunfire in several locations - in both the Cielo Vista mall and the nearby Walmart, police said - but reports of further gunshots at another nearby mall, Bassett, were not true. Sharpie
Again the suspect left some manifesto about what he was going to do, difficult situation for police who are trained to go in ignore dead and dying and confront the shooter, extremely difficult task in Texas where carrying a gun in full view is permitted. Twenty one year old arrested another person being held but no information on why.Again people will be told about family just doing what we do and that as a result suddenly they are gone, my thoughts are with those families. Sharpie
There are two teenagers on the run in Canada after shooting and killing three people, a gang member was gunned down and killed yesterday, there have been a number of shootings in thls near past, a man is just being tried for killing with a rifle a policeman two years ago, he defence are arguing that no motive was prsented in the evidence. Canada has strong firearms rules, but its easy to obtain illegal weapons many coming over the border. I have to contribute in some way its not the guns that kill its the person pulling the trigger.i

This attack is a response to the Hispanic invasion of Texas. They are the instigators, not me. I am simply defending my country from cultural and ethnic replacement brought on by an invasion. Some people will think this statement is hypocritical because of the nearly complete ethnic and cultural destruction brought to the Native Americans by our European ancestors, but this just reinforces my point. The natives didn’t take the invasion of Europeans seriously, and now what’s left is just a shadow of what was. My motives for this attack are not at all personal. Actually the Hispanic community was not my target before I read The Great Replacement. This manifesto will cover the political and economic reasons behind the attack, my gear, my expectations of what response this will generate and my personal motivations and thoughts.” The El Paso shooter.
