Cade
"There is a new story about the Caribbean experience which speaks to the slave period not only being about profit and suffering but how culturally African people transformed themselves into a re-modelled African/Britain." Oh, so it turns out that the slave trade wasn't bad at all, but gave Black people a wonderful opportunity to get their foot in the door of the UK. Cade
Rob Roberts, the Conservative MP for Delyn in north Wales, has kept the party whip after being embroiled in a sexual harassment case against a 21 year old female intern. In WhatsApp messages sent in April 2020, the MP told the intern: “Don’t ignore me when I’m making you feel better,” before suggesting she might want to “fool around with no strings, you might come and visit me in London”. He told her he “might be gay but I enjoy … fun times”. When told that his behaviour had upset his victim, he sent her more messages: “I was just thinking about fun times … Maybe if you thought of them too it might help you.” A Tory party spokesperson said: "Mr Roberts has apologised for his behaviour" Case closed. Cade
Former Prime minister working for Greensill Capital used his government contacts to press for favourable awarding of multi million pound contracts. Government's Chief Procurement Officer was moonlighting for Greensill Capital at the same time as being in charge of awarding contracts. The man hand-picked to lead the investigation into the scandal works for the law firm that advised the Treasury on the Covid loan scheme that the former Prime Minister was lobbying for access to.
