Heartsofgold
We we're in it for a match vs Falkirk on our way to winning the Scottish cup in 1998. Wee Kevin MacAllister ripped us a new one that day and I recall thinking that the 3-1 scoreline flattered us. My mate got accidently hit in the eye with an inflatible hammer just before half time and had to go to the medic. They wanted to keep a hold of him as his pupils were heavily dilated, but this was more to do with the eccies he'd dropped prior to kick off than the incident with the hammer. This is my memory of the Copeland Road end. Mine as well GT but it was a bit hazy due to the amount of pre match booze.
Beast Boy
To be fair some of those stands were built quite a long time ago now. However our stand will look the baws and the comparison should blow away some of the moaners on here. The one 'new' main stand that I've always been impressed with is Falkirk's. Agree with that. I think their main stand is a great effort for a club their size.
Fxxx the SPFL
Down in Sheffield for a wee break with the missus going to the Sheffield United game against Derby tomorrow had a look at the Bramhall lane this morning and their main stand hasn't got a look in compared to our new one I'm like Obua don't have a Scooby how to post pics but will try tomorrow
Cut The Crap
Plenty room for the bottom sections of steel and staging. You just start at one end and work your way back, shutting the door behind you as you leave, no? Does anybody know when we're starting the bottom section? Is the plan to deck out all of the top section before we start on the bottom?
Buffalo Bill
Does anybody know when we're starting the bottom section? Is the plan to deck out all of the top section before we start on the bottom? I don't know, but, it seems the bigger crane is hoisting up the staging to the upper level, so maybe they get all that done and out of the way before going the bottom bits. I'm utterly impressed at how they haven't compromised the pitch so far.
Hagar the Horrible
I have to Say Falkirks is the best its a shame it could not be finished off as a bowl? Spurs is just on a another planet, But we will have the best stadium in Scotland, appart from the new Moheldome the best in the UK and for its size. Thing is if you rub the new WHL the stadium gets bigger....genius

I assume the bottom section steelwork will need some heavyish plant as well and I can't see how they can do that while lifting the top staging into place at the same time. I'm assuming top level decked then bottom level steelwork and decking section by section before - as you put it - closing the door behind them at the end. Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if they do the bottom section steel work AND staging together, section at a time, working their way along. That's how I'd do it but the biggest thing I've built is an Ikea chest of drawers. Edited August 25, 2017 by Buffalo Bill
Suspect Device
Don't think it's likely that they'll wrap/clad the floodlights to enclose the stadium. Need the ventilation to dry the pitch. Could be done by fixing wind tight external blinds, leave in 'up' position all week, lower when a game is on. Can be any colour or printed with HMFC / FOH etc.

Odd memory but we nearly got into a fight with some Millwall guys who were being bellends.
Toggie88
Agree with that. I think their main stand is a great effort for a club their size. Agree. Livingston actually have a cracker of a stadium for a smaller club. If we had opted to build a new stadium instead of staying at Tynie, a similar design to Almondvale but 2.5/3 times bigger would have been ideal. Dallas Green
Inside of Falkirk main stand is pretty nice too. Did a lot of work for Falkirk Council and they have offices in it. I know people have worries about the new stand but saying it looks like it might encroach the pitch? Really?

However, now that I see what we are going to have by staying in Gorgie? I feel pretty lucky. Despite my misgivings about the capacity and some minor aesthetics, I'd have what we are getting over Aberdeen or Dundee's plans any day of the week. I actually think that Aberdeen's plans look like a 'big Almondvale/Tony Macaroni tbh.

Simmo
I don't agree with him on CL either, but are you seriously suggesting that because he is working on the stand, he doesn't get an opinion on the running of the club the same as other Hearts fans? Big C, I'm not saying he shouldn't have an opinion.... just saying he keeps going on and on about his dislike for Levein and joins in at every opportunity with all the other anti-Levein brigade critiscing his work and value to the club. EIEIO
Gene Parmesan hats off sir, we blow our rivals out of the water with regard to stands. In that case I'd say the only more aesthetically pleasing main stand in the country is Ibrox. And we were hardly going to be recreating that. David McCaig
It's worth noting that United built the stand as they were flying high in the old English Division One... Unfortunately the cost of building it was so great, that they plunged out of the top flight and ultimately dropped all the way down to Division 4!! Minus the chimney of course.? Having been in Portobello power station, I can tell you it was far from being scabby as you put it. The inside was cavernous and could easily be made into a Conference Centre or Concert Hall. I also think at its size you could have put an indoor stadium in it, and the crowds could have been brought in by train as the line ran right under the building. As usual it was easier to knock it down than think of what else to do with it, similar with the open air pool next door!!!

iwasthere1954
No the Mechanical lads wouldn't have anything to do with the design of the Steel work. That would be the province of the Structural Engineer. Incidentally, I'm not unduly concerned. I was only commenting how tight it looked. I have every confidence that Jim Clydesdale knows what he is doing !!!!! I think everyone is forgetting the staging doesn't start level with the walkway. It's probably 900mm lower. This allows for the seat and and the spectator to be be housed below walkway level.

Communism seems to bring about just as much pain to people as rampant capitalism just in a different way.
