New Stand: Ongoing work (updated)

The Natural Order

Definitely only 11 rows there. On the plans image it looks like the missing 12th row at the front will sit directly in line with wall 3. That obviously can't be made yet as the Main stand is in the way.

Is the steelwork that forms the front part of the construction the furthest the building will stick out towards McLeod street?

Does the curved bit in the middle not come out a bit further?

All this  is there 11/12/13 rows nonsense,

Why don't we just get the dot counters to re-train as row counters?

Then we'll get the correct number.

Love this thread great to see the new pics of how it's developing for folk like myself who don't stay near to Tynie. Coming along nicely and would imagine with no game until a week on Saturday work should go quite smoothly until then

You learn something new about cranes every day lol

Unbelievably, I was sat on a plane this morning, right behind a crane driver. Not across from or even on the same side of the aircraft but honestly directly behind him and he confirmed the two engine and on sire refuelling strategy.

We still using rainwater stored up from the roof for the toilets?

Hopefully.  All new commercial buildings in Edinburgh do this, rainwater harvesting puts the water through a huge cylinder filter, it fills a huge tank and any rubbish falls down the middle into the drain, if it doesn't rain and there's a shortfall then it's topped up from the mains.

It's all contributes to a BREEAM rating given to buildings for there environmental and sustainable performance.

The rows are pre fab concrete that sit on top of these- could the twelfth row be sitting directly on top of the upright girder at the front? Edited by Smithee

Can someone phone Tynecastle to tell them to start working again, now that Kickback has solved the mystery of the missing row.

Is that not the main corner structure that's still there?

Most cranes that size have 2 engines. 1 for driving to and from sites and 1 for the crane part, lifting and moving loads. I'm pretty sure they can use red diesel in the crane engine, so I'd imagine there's on site refuelling.

So mystery of the missing crane remains!  Where is it?

They built the 2 pylons 1st in order to lay the main truss onto them.

I thought he meant this scaffolding at the front of the top tier?.

The dude, I never even saw that. How shitey.

In fairness, the floodlight pylons look much better in the stadium now than they did stood on their own!

You count 12 on this?

Screen_Shot_2017-04-20_at_08.35.39.png

The 12th row down will be level with the top of the vertical beam by the looks of it. Makes sense, fits with the diagram.

Main reason I was actively looking at the comparison between the initial drawings and what we see on site is in hope of an extra row being added!

The 20099 capacity can't be final, as it doesn't account for director seats, boxes, dugout etc. It's taken as a count of every possible seat.

I hope for the same, Kila. Every seat counts!

Excellent recent pictures, thanks everyone.

So mystery of the missing crane remains!  Where is it?

Passed site this morning at around 10am and it was hoisting steel up.

Pretty sure it gets parked up with the boom down overnight, tucked behind the tenements at the Gorgie end.  It causes a bit of hassle getting these big machines through Edinburgh and on to site, so transportation is kept to a minimum.

Anyone got a copy of the original Wheatfield/Gorgie/Roseburn planning applications?

Just checking... pWuTa.jpg

Nah it's in the big smoke.

Oot at Cavendish and dancing at tropicana.

Be great for a pic of a wee crane dancing in a club... To prove this.

If so I'm delighted as I have 44 minute bladder!

Cheers Sifter, great pics once again.

Pics from the Wheatfield will be good, see the new stand starting to impose itself over the old one.

Top row will be miles away from the pitch.

We probably dont realise just how far the back row of the Wheatfield currently is, i would imagine it was wont be hugely different.

What a great thread.

I can see a good number of punters moving in here next season. First season of the new stand and sitting in it ?

Very tempting.

Keep the fantastic pictures coming for us out of towners, folks.

Bravo.
