As above, this guy is the most likely

http://en.wikipedia....Farid_El_Alagui

Unattached. Former Falkirk player. 6'1. Track record in the Championship.

Still hope we go for Lyle Taylor though.

I know we have good options up front but to compete with Rangers, we need goalscorers. The more options (in terms of variety) we have the better, if we can keep it within budget.

Taylor has apparently signed for Scunthorpe I think.

El Alagui is a decent shout

No less likely to take a step down than Gomis.

A striker isn't/shouldn't be a priority, but I'd have no complaints if it was el Alagui.

if your joke is I miscounted the number of players, I said at least 3.

If your point is we can't afford more players, I didn't say they needed to be expensive but the fact is our squad last year was larger than this year's and was entirely affordable

This, we should really be looking at strengthening defence.

The way season tickets sales are going the budget may well be increased to allow us 3 or 4 new players.

That's us on the road with the team. Trialist Lee Currie travelling south in 24-man squad. First friendly tonight Ludogorets Razgrad, 7.30.

Cheers for that. Lots of youtube videos on him. From those he looks great on set pieces. I suspect that's something RN is looking out for. A dead ball specialist. Someone who can score freekicks, and put in good corners, could be the difference in some tight games.

If the rumour's true, this is our winner. Didn't realise he was French-born.

It's either el Alagui (yes please), Tade (meh), Fortune (no chance) or William Gros (:jjno:).

Or sandaza.

What you heard if anything??

I haven't heard anything linking him to us. His agent says he has numerous offers in Scotland though so there could be something in it.

Yes.

We want to see him play in a couple of games.

He trained with Morton last monday and Jim Duffy wanted to sign him there and then. Lee knocked him back and told Duffy that he was coming on trial with us.I was told Duffy has been on the phone every day.

Lee is very impressed with us,and said Robbie & Craig know their onions.

Money or length of a contract have not even been discussed yet.

Sounds like you might know him?

Impressed by some of his goals on youtube. Lots of dead ball free kicks over the wall, and goals from his corners. Like I said a decent dead ball specialist can change draws into wins etc. Might be what we need to break down some of the smaller teams.

Robbie & Craig see him as a Stevie Fulton type player.

And all this,he's a Hibby and would never sign for them :smug2:

Nade. Would actually be a good signing imo. Got a point to prove and the dundee fans thought he did well with them last season.

To have a goal threat from a set piece is something we have missed for as long as I can remember. Would love to see currie scoring a good few dead balls, can't beat a postage stamp free kick

Only a few players would genuinely not sign for a rival of the team they supported as a boy. When bills need paid, and a good opportunity arises, most ambitious players would grab it.

You can definitely see he has ability. Only seen short clips of him, but certainly strikes a ball well.

I'm old enough to remember Paul Hartley.

Why do folk pretend to know how much our budget for new players is? The fact that they would post on here how many players we could sign or how much we could offer almost definitely proves that they have no idea.. like most of us.

lets be honest most of Hartley's were very wayward

that can be said of all freekick takers

true mate. Been a while since we have had a player who has a reasonable chance of hitting the target each time a free kick is in range, a la Beckham or Pirlo. I know those types are few amongst the majority of teams, so would be another threat we carry if we unearthed someone capable.

Bruno Aguiar was pretty decent with free kicks and corners as well. If Currie is half as good as them then he will add to the team.

Yeah but lets not kid ourselves that he was some sort of dead ball specialist, he made a mug of Zibby in the Semi but week in week out, most where shitey.

Seems like since Beckham gave up the game, naebody is really interested in scoring from a free kick.

Think he scored 3 or 4 from dead balls in 05/06 - 06/07.

Killie in the league and against Celtic too when he mugged off Boruc by taking it quickly. Those aside, I can't mind much. Good penalty taker too.

The Killie one was a cracker, opened the scoring fairly late on as well IIRC. (2-0 with Berra getting the second?) Hartley maybe didn't score as many free kicks as others but he saved them for when it mattered.

Easter road? Him and Driver had been out for a long period of time, two of them started the game out of nowhere and ran absolutely riot. Pair of them were tremendous.

Just returning from work and spotted big bad Bouzid strolling along Great Western Road in Glasgow. Looking rather dapper it must be said.

I presume he's signing/has signed for a west coast team?
