The Strays

8/10

Random watch on Netflix that was much better and more twisted than I expected. Mrs No enjoyed it too. English upper middle class couple have everything, the ideal life, or do they? Not saying more as I think that not knowing the plot was part of the enjoyment

awesome films. Loved them both  and like nothing I’d seen before. About time I rewatched them

Nocebo.

4 / 10.

It's on Netflix and the first thing I think I've that Mark Strong was in that's been pretty shit, Eva Green is wooden and it's like a feature length version of a Tales of the Unexpected. Try something else before you bother with this.

I have 10 minutes to go and concur. Only chose it cause Mark Strong was in it.

Agree with your judgement

" knock at the cabin" 2022

Its a M Night Shyamalan  film.  He burst on the film scene years ago with the " 6th sense" and his films have been known for their twists.   " 6rh sense" was terrific and he has made a few decent films after that like "Unbreakable" " Signs" and " The village" but his input has seriously deteriorated in recent years.  This film is awful. Its that bad. Ludicrous plot and I kept hoping for a twist to at least make it semi interesting but Nothing.  Best to be avoided. 3/10

"Harriet" true life bio about Harriet Tubman who fled from slavery and ending up resuesing many slaves in the deept south to safer places in the North and Canada. The film was really interesting about a good history lesson as I had never heard of her before. She led a worthwhile life, not only helping slaves free but also womens suffrage today . A real shero .

Good film but not great. 7/10.

Blonde, Monroe biopic beautifully shot throughout. The lead, Ana de Armas has been nominated for an Oscar in the Best Actress categoy, even does a reluctant BJ very well,  I certainly think the Razzie nominations are unjust.

Narvik  (Netflix) Film about the battle for the Norwegian port and city following the outbreak of world war 2 and the fictional family affected by it. Good film about a battle I hadn't heard of and some decent sub plots about the choices between family and country

The Autopsy of Jane Doe (iptv)

5/10

Horror with Brian Cox and Emile Hirsche trying to work out Jane Doe's cause of death. Started off well enough before descending into a load of paranormal nonsense.

"The Whale"

Its got Oscar buzz for Brendan Fraser as a morbidly obese guy. He will probably win the best actor but I thought the film and his performance were average. Disappointing considering the director is the great Darren Aronofsky.

Netflix

Told my wife about your recommendation, so we sat down to watch this yesterday afternoon. Think we saw about 30/40 minutes and then turned over to watch Lingo it was that bad. I reckon I could have put that film together better myself. Poorly filmed, trying too hard imo and the acting was pitifully bad too.

0.001/10 for me

This is England.

Watched it soon after it came out. Difficult watch. Some very tough scenes. Dark and troublesome on the conscience.

Rewatched it and it’s still as it was. The world is the same. Racism is still prevalent. Questions asked remain unanswered.

I don’t know what Shane Meadows hoped to achieve when he made it?

Theres been 3 or 4 TV series made from it highlighting various years and what the group were up to at the point.

Theyre all a bit similar, funny moments which lull you into thinking your watching a comedy followed by episodes which are incredibly dark and hard to watch. I can never work out how much I rated them , some absolute comedy gold and incredible acting between Combo and Woody in a few episodes.

I didn't really like the TV shows.

First half of it was like a Shameless clone, lots of poverty porn and titting about.

Then there was a tonal shift in the final two episodes, with a either a rape, or a murder, or both.

End of series.

Same again next series.
It got very formulaic, very quickly.

RRR

Hindi action film.

Easily a flat out 10 out of 10.

Utterly insane nonsense.

Need more movies like this.  Cinematography is gorgeous.

It's on Netflix.  Don't do dubbed if you can.

Just watched Elvis on Sky Movies. Not quite sure where it’s getting all the lavish praise from. It all seemed a bit garbled to me with the director showing his usual obsession with design and camera work. Also thought Tom Hanks wasn’t as bad as I’d read. Not a bad film but not a great one with. A solid 6/10 for me.

Ron Burgundy

The Menu

Quite enjoyed it.

Also Black Sea which has Jude Law with a dodgy Scottish accent but again found it fairly entertaining.

Trip to the pics last night to see Creed 3.

Adonis Creeds childhood best friend gets released from prison and uses Creed to get his boxing career back on track.

Pretty watchable to be honest. Predictable story and seemed like the final fight could have been stretched out a bit more but enjoyable none the less. Dames character is played very well.
