Bigsmak
Well.. My golfing adventure continues.. Haven't lost a Match yet this year. Playing a Mixed Fours (with my mum), foursomes and 2 singles comps. (actually thinking about it, I have.. lost my match in the first leg of a team match with us playing against Musselburgh.. we played a +1 and Scratch golfer. I'm 5 and partner is 7. We got 7 shots but wow.. the two we played were amazing. Not a mistake made the whole round. Our eclectic scratch score for the back 9 was 5 under and we lost on the 18th.... ) I won a singles match on Monday there, I had to give 19 shots.. it was mental... He could hit the ball pretty well for a 24 handicap. He was on the 400+ yard 8th into 10ft with a drive and 4 iron.. It was hard going.. I had to make 4 birdies and ended up winning on the 18th. Next week... well.. Have club championship qualifying on Saturday for Dirleton Castle Monday I have a Singles Match Tuesday I have a foursomes Match Wednesday I have a Medal Thursday I am playing with Scots Civil War and we have a space for one more on Gullane No.1 .. Will cost about ?10 to play if thats ok - any takers??? Friday I have a Team Match at Musselburgh My GF will kill me... lol.. who will make her dinner? graygo
Anybody got any recommendations on a GPS or laser range finder, really fancy one and my old man is looking for one for his 60th? Cant make my mind up which is better they seem to both have pro's and con's, I am leaning towards the laser range finder though as you can "ping" any point you want for a yardage. The only downside of them is if you dont have a clear line to the green. Bushnell seem to be the market leader although a US make Leupold are reviewed as being better. As far as GPS is concerned the Callway UPRO looks the best and you can map to any point on the hole with it not just the green. C'mon then, who's got one!? I've got a Garmin G5 gps, you can have a loan of it for a few weeks to try it out if you want.

Disser Pointon
I have a time booked for our invitational Silloth at Monktonhall, Musselburgh 8.30am 26 June and thought I would throw it open to a fellow Jambo (thinly veiled all his mates from other clubs are busy type post ). If any halfway competent member of another course who can smash it 300yds off the tee wants to take up the invitation, drop me a pm,first come first served! I am a somewhat erratic 8 handicap, do not take the game overly seriously and just enjoy my golf so no pressure to perform honest! The Merse
Trying to get back into the old golf. Was playing out at Castle Park at 9 this morning. Had a disgusting out 9 Hit 67 FFS. Including a 12 on the 2nd hole where my ball was buried in the deepest rough I've ever seen, so much so that I could barely see the ball. Took me 6 to get it out FFS. Sick. Hit a pleasing 45 on the inward 9 though, could have been less if my putting had been even average, was getting on every green in regulation. Oh well, plenty positives from the back 9 to hopefully take into my next round. PS does anyone have any advice for getting rid of a slice? It only happens when I use my driver? I've taken to using irons off the tee now and it's saving me a lot of shots because the driver is so erratic it's unreal.

Victorian
raging. after a ropey front nine i toughed it out again on the back nine to save handicap, only to be foiled by a biased unlucky 3-putt on the 17th and a sand iron that refused to spin at the last. did a neil lennon on a table of drinks outside the clubhouse that was surrounded by elderly lady members and some children. only one was blinded. some of the other members need to take a look at themselves in the mirror. I was up there at 8am yesterday morning scratch 77 in what is classed as a light breeze up there. The rough is up all round Castle Park and i assume you were in the boondai to the right of the fairway on 2, if so you were lucky to find it! It's just lovely in there. Two very different halves though.....I went 42/35 yesterday struggling in the wind on the front 9 and easier on the more sheltered back 9. It's a decent test though! Bloody bunkers. Here's hoping for better in tomorrow's medal before the championship qualifiers over the next 2 weekends. Playing the 2nd round at 7 in the morning!!! The wind was bad enough but as we teed off at 3pm we caught the full force of the rain too Ended up with an 82(76) which given the conditions felt like a 62. Thankfully it was reductions only as there was only 3 scores under net par from 121 entrants. Had a 36 hole outing to Aberfoyle GC yesterday. tremendous quirky little track. Under 5000 yards and built up the side of a fecking mountain with blind shots aplenty and very small greens no more than 15-20 yards wide. Really enjoyed it and the hospitality was superb. Really hoping the wind dies down soon. It feels like it's been howling a gale for about the last month or so

Didn't help that the day before my driver somehow broke in the car on the drive up and then teeing of at the first the head of my 3 wood came off!!!! Scored 33 points on a little stableford comp using my rescue of the tee. Maybe should have used it more on the Sunday!!!!
