I was brought up in Granton. Nobody I know has gone on to make a career out of being a low level hitman and wannabe gangster.

I was brought up in Granton too.

Over the years of my life there's been many a premature end for folk that have tried that particular career path

Yes I know it is hence asking people to be wary of what they are saying . That comment was sarcastic . But you knew that .

I remember when it was built.

I stayed in Royston Mains Place at the time.

Thousands of kids grow up in deprived areas with nothing to their name, but they manage to not be a drug dealer and end up on attempted murder charges.

And remember many in fact most of those “ scum” have came from very difficult backgrounds , poverty , etc . Their chances in life were limited  from the day they were born. So what options have they have in life?

Sorry but that is a steaming pile of pish. In the 70s I lived in Easter Drylaw Place, Muirhouse Way, Clovenstone Drive, Clermiston and then Knightsridge in Livingston. I managed not to steal, deal drugs, kill people, vandalise anything or cause others harm. These are lifestyle choices and the Webley brothers have been a scourge on North Edinburgh for years. What goes around comes around. What is surprising is that it didn't happen sooner.

Thunder and Lightning

Just seen the video being discussed.

Not that clever to make videos calling people out.

Suppose that's what happens when you think you're untouchable.

A lot of people have been raised in the way described and have bettered their lives through honest means. Learning a trade, going to college etc. I’m not buying the whole “but they were brought up in poverty” BS. It’s actually very insulting to those that were brought up like that, as if their only option in life is to turn to crime.

I am one of those said people………don’t want for anything now really, but not lucky, just grafted.  Dropped out of school at 15 with zip qualifications…..”he’ll come to nothing” was a favourite line belted out by most people that knew me (including family).  At 15 I’d never have thought I’d return to education and be a full time student at 40 studying for a degree in business management……..so, there is opportunity out there but, it’s not going to find you though.  Niddrie in the 70’s was my patch 😳

Good stuff. Proof positive that there are opportunities out there if you look hard enough. Churning out the “I only turned to crime because there was nothing else for me” is just a bullshit excuse. You made the choice to turn to crime.
