Malinga the Swinga

Can't believe it was 38 years ago I saw Elton at Playhouse. I must be getting old but doesn't seem that long ago in my mind

He's got to play that. It's a fantastic song. What I hope is he doesn't play 'Goodbye England's Rose'.

Agreed. I'm probably going to regret not having seen him at least once.

Just tuned in. Sounds like he's in Dill Dandin mode, not sure about his voice still being intact.

Think he is doing ok, was never a huge fan of his vocals generally. The songs however are class.

It's Edinburgh's own David Johnston, been with Elton for decades.  Say what you like but EJ is a different class to anything that has been on.

Indeed, Davey Johnstone, class act. Originally with a band called Magna Carta, Reg advised us at the Hydro

You'll have a chance when he does his next 'last' tour or a residency at some hotel or arena.

He's a born showman and he'll never quit till he's carried out.

He's about 103 years old! There will be lots of him that aren't in full working order but what a set and what a showman, EVERYTHING a headline act should be, imho obviously.

Genuinely sounds like Vic Reeves covering Elton John in the club style.

🤣 There is that. Especially with him - he's such a diva!

The Who did their first "Farewell Tour" in 1982. Ummm, they're currently on tour, 41 years later😁

Elton opened his show tonight with Pinball Wizard - a Who song. There's maybe a wee cryptic clue in there 😉

As long as he keeps to his pre 85/86ish stuff he'll be onto a winner.

Wander down the Lion King road and he'll kill it stone dead.

Gospel choirs are okay. You must have some amount of self confidence to wear fluorescent pink suit though.

Agree with keeping lion king out but his Dua Lipa collaboration was fine. Not so keen on the Britney one.

The way he was talking I was convinced Fatboy Slim was going to come out and I was intrigued at how the **** they would make that work.

I class Elton with Meatloaf, Alice Cooper and Springsteen. Not in styles but in they don't do concerts, they do shows.

Born entertainers who have tuned their acts over decades and, as with Meatloaf, will entertain till their dying day.
