Some familiar faces... Fenerbache have Ryan Kent and Brugge have Jack Henry and Ronny Deila

Also Twente have a player called van Wolfswinkle (sounds like a 1970s footballer)

Van Wolfswinkle was a flop at Norwich city a few seasons ago

Jack Hendry leaving there to go to Saudi I think. Fenerbache just signed Dzeko and someone else quite a familiar name who I can’t remember off the top of my head 😂

No. He’s going to Galatasaray.

I think Fenerbache would see us off very easily. We'd be rank outsiders against Brugge and Twente but their would be the slightest glimmer of a hope.

Rijeka and Rosenborg* would still be favourites but at least we'd be competitive.

*I'm sure St Johnstone knocked Rosenborg out a few years ago.

Shan patter dividing the groups before the draw is made. Hibs have actually got it easier. How is that even possible 🤣

I think it’s due to the extra round first.

looks slightly more favourable.  A few names on there who aren’t what they were e.g Cluj

Hibs game will be reversed if both at home on the same night.

7.1 If there is a clash between two UEFA Europa Conference League home matches, one fixture is played as scheduled and the other is reversed. The fixture involving the team higher up on the following order of priority of UEFA Europa Conference League participants (among the two clashing teams) is not reversed:

a) Domestic champion club

b) UEFA Europa Conference League titleholder

c) Domestic cup winner

d) Next best-ranked team in their domestic league championship (N2, N3, N4, N5, etc.)

e) League cup winner (if applicable)

I'd argue we absolutely want to avoid a Scandinavian team as they're already up to speed seeing as their season is well under way.

Most of the time I remember Scottish teams coming up against Scandinavian teams in the early rounds of European football, we get pumped. Malmo anyone?

I was thinking Twente might not be too bad but I see they only lost 6 matches and 27 goals from 34 matches.  Slightly hard to beat then.

Let's be honest, we all knew finishing 3rd was the only real hope of getting group stage football and we blew that. Even if we draw a Rosenborg and beat them, we won't be seeded in the 4th round and will likely face a near impossible task to make the groups.

The qualifying is still unbelievably heavily weighted against clubs of our size and standing.

Let's just see who we get and enjoy what we can.

The Croatian league looks a bit like the Scottish.  Very even beneath a clear top 2.  That's our best draw.

and not crusaders ? Unless we can’t for some reason get them?

Based on coefficient, we've landed 2 of the top 6 sides we could have faced.  Other side of the coin is we've landed 3 of the 'easiest' 7.

If we were to draw Brugge or Fenerbahce and beat them, we would then be seeded for the Playoff round.

If we draw Twente, Rijeka or Rosenborg and beat them, we would be unseeded for the Playoff round.

Aberdeen gubbed Rijeka a few years ago, them or Rosenborg gives us the best chance. The other three we'd need a Bayern Munich effort.

I do not see Hibs having the easier draw.    Hearts have more chance of getting through against five sides.

We still need players in.   Not enough up front and just barely making  it with the defence.

They've also beaten then 5-2 in 2015 (forgot they had played them again more recently)

Aberdeen did beat them a few years before that though. And St Johnstone did beat Rosenborg. Rijeka also beat Hibs recently I think??

Squads change though so comparing teams and games from 5/6 years ago is only helpful in terms of knowing clubs of that stature can be beaten. It's not a useful measure of where a club is today.

This somewhat contradicts those pant wetting saying Hibs got the easier draw, with 3 playoff seeded teams in their section compared to 2 in ours.

Rijeka had some decent European pedigree a few years ago but the last couple of entries look more modest.  Definitely our best hope from the favoured sides.
